help me feel full
15

mailfuckoff · 27/06/2017 15:15

I've been trying to lose weight since Jan. I'm eating less and exercising more and have lost nearly a stone which I know is rubbish but I'm back in normal bmi range for my height. The last couple of weeks I've been hungry all the time. I'm low carbing so eating lots of veg and veggie protein as I don't eat meat. Please help me feel full but keep the calories down so I stop snacking , any food ideas?

Soup is good for making you feel full. Can you make a big plan of veg soup to snack on?

I've never made soup before but I am buying it. I ate a 'big soup ' today, still felt hungry and it wasn't great for calories either :-(

If you make a veg soup with just the basic veg in, cabbage, carrots, celery, onion, then use a carton of passata and some veg stock you will have a very low cal soup. Another good one is to cook up butternut squash and puree it and use that as a base.

Making your own veggie soup is so easy. I used to use veggie stock cube, can of chopped tomatoes, herbs and spices, several different veggies and some olive oil at the end. Never read a recipe, just made it up as I went.

I add a can of cannelini beans to my soups and then blend. Makes them more filling.

If you are low carbing you don't need to worry about calories though. And you need fat as well as protein. That's what keeps you full.

Frozen veg is really handy for making soup. Just bung it in, no chopping.

A quick fix to curb my appetite is to have an espresso... short and sharp and cuts hunger pains til the next meal.

Soup is a much more nutritious alternative though Grin

Eggs are very filling so maybe a cheese and spinach omelette? Very filling and nutritious too. For a low-carb diet, eggs are one of the staples to feeling full.

Well done on the stone weight loss btw!!

I've started a new way of eating and now I don't feel hungry at all. It's a high fat diet with protein, and small amount of carbs and around 1200 calories. The fat keeps you feeling full.

I'm sorry I don't have anything constructive to offer mailfuckoff but I too am always hungry so following with interest.
However- a stone is in NO WAY crap. That's great going. That is a huge amount of weight to lose. And if you're exercising too then you're probably creating muscle.

Eggs, beans, peas, pulses in general, porridge oats, homemade soups, apples, Greek yoghurt, nuts, chia seeds, dark chocolate... Google brings up plenty of ideas too.
Well done on your progress so far!

Frittata made with vegetarian sausages. Cheese sticks, nuts, all filling as it's protein. Carrot and cucumber sticks are filling snacks.

You could join the low carb boot camp here for brilliant advice and help with your low carbing.

You don't want low calorie; you want high fat and moderate protein. If you are hungry, you aren't getting enough calories from fat. It is a natural appetite suppressant. I have done two long stints of low carb and only got the fat message the second time. It made a huge difference to my hungry and the longevity of the way of eating. Good luck and great progress so far!
