Need to lose at least 2st

Hi everyone,

I need to/want to lose at least 2st by the middle of September. I have my MIL's hen do in Benidorm and really don't want to be the fattest there! I also need to fit into the bridesmaid dress which isn't happening at all at the moment!

I've signed up to the gym and starting a fitness class on Tuesday but I have no idea where to start with diet? My job is not active in the slightest (Receptionist) so diet really is key.

Any tips?

X

When you say you don't know where to start with diet, what do you mean? Have you any idea about what is or isn't healthy? Slimming World is good for teaching people about eating the right foods and cooking from scratch. But you basically want to eat-
Fruit
Veg
Rice
Lean protein (minimal fat fish and meat)
Grains
Wholemeal bread
Home made soups

And don't eat -
Crisps
Pizza
Chocolate
Cakes
Sugar
Pastries
Etc etc

30 minutes of moderate exercise (walking, swimming, cycling etc) 5 times a week is the ideal. But you can build this up slowly :) x

Thank you xx

I have to say lunches and snacks are a struggle for me too. Maybe salads? But can make them nicer than just a bits of lettuce - one I made yesterday was - the usual said ingredients (Spinach, onion, tomato. Peppers etc), ready to eat cooked salmon and boiled potatoes with a bit of mayonnaise. It was really nice, I also make soups and sandwiches. For snacks I get sugar free jellies (9 cals each), fruit, yogurts etc. :) x

How much free time have you got? You can lose weight mostly on exercise but it is very time consuming. Calorie counting is your friend!! It's all maths really :) happy to help! I've lost 3st in 6 months

MrsWineasaurus · 05/05/2017 17:26

I work full time so trying my best to fit in gym 2-3 a week after work.
Probably doesn't help where I've got from a very active retail job to receptionist lol.

If you can think of any healthy tasty snacks and lunches let me know! X

I can't recommend slimming World enough, you'll find hundreds of healthy or low syn snacks. And you can't outrun a bad diet, make sure you eat well ahead of anything else!

charimito · 05/05/2017 17:35

You can outrun a bad diet a bad diet (just ask everyone in my running club! 90% of us run so we can eat). However, you have to be within a healthy range to do so. Also, it takes a lot of running to be able to... We all run at the very least 30mi a week

MissBax · 05/05/2017 17:36

Sorry I don't mean you can't outrun a bad diet weight wise - I know lots of "fit" people who eat crap, but in relation to being healthy you have to eat the right foods.

charimito · 05/05/2017 17:41

Oh yes, we all need the nutrients!!

I've lost 20lbs on Slimming World in 6 weeks. I have another two stone to lose.

Get thee to a group and see if it's for you. It really is a good way to live. However, I ignore the 'eat as much pasta / rice / potatoes / mullerlight as you want' mantra that they spout. I do not lose weight doing that. I focus on eating tons of fresh veg, lots of lean protein and some fruit.

Good luck. Flowers

Thank you for all your advice, I'm going to look into slimming world a little better than before (confused me with group a and b foods). So gonna do some research and see how I end up.

Thank you lovely ladies. Xx

I would recommend SW too, lots of tips there about things to snack on as well (if that's an issue for you). Having said that I desperately need to go back as I also have 2st to lose, feeling a bit daunted at the thought!!

ImogenR · 05/05/2017 23:55

I've found this advice and it really works for me so I'm just checking it out with other people. But I think it's gold dust. But I want to see if it's true for anyone else. The great thing is. a. it's blinkin simple. b. I'm drinking my umteenth glass of wine this evening and it still works. (You do have to give up at first but you get loads of time off). And I'm still losing weight. no calorie counting. You have to fast - but get this, you can still stuff yourself with chicken drumsticks so it's not that hard. And you only fast as much as you need depending on the amount you eat/drank the few days before. It shows you how to make the adjustment you need for the way you want to eat. It's called the diet groove.

It's so important to eat healthy meals consistently! Cleanse and stick to a fitness regiment. I use Isagenix and it's been very helpful for me.
