Wedding on Friday... look fat in dress.
22

pandarific · 02/05/2017 13:53

Getting married on Friday and panicking a bit about my dress. My original dress had a covered back and arms, my new dress exposes them, and my arms and back are very flabby. I have back fat. I don't want back fat on my wedding day. :(

What, realistically in the next 2 and a half days, can I do? Drink lots of water? Eat only lean protein and leafy veg? I am really upset, had final fitting on Sat and had a bit of back-fat which the shop owner denied (because my moaning would have meant the need for alterations I bet Hmm), have just tried it on again after a weekend which involved going out for dinner (and wine), the back fat is worse.

Gah, this is the last thing I need. Help! Anyone had any success with a short term cleanse of any kind? I will go to Holland and Barratt and see if they do anything which will get rid of water weight too.

First of all, calm. the. fuck. down.

You can't do anything to reduce your weight in 2 days, but you already know this.

WHat's your BMI? whether water weight will make any difference to how you look will depend on that.

Would the look be completely ruined if you wore a bolero jacket?

Not sure of BMI, but am 12ish stone and 5 foot 9, so within healthy range.

Am trying to be calm.

I would be looking for a wrap or cover up to make the dress more flattering. That's something you can do in a couple of days!

I would also suggest one of those toning and inch loss wraps the day before. I'm slim but I did one before my wedding and felt pretty good - I was a bit bloated from an IVF cycle just beforehand and it helped with that.

Good idea re: inch loss wrap, thank you! Am looking now.

I bet you look gorgeous and you're just having some last minute nerves Smile

If you feel self conscious buy a wee wrap/bolero. Monsoon, John Lewis and Debenhams do some lovely bridal ones.

Don't take a diuretic - you will be weeing all day on Friday too, and it's already a PITA to go to the loo in a wedding dress...

Was the dress pulled too tight on you? anything pulled too tight can create overspill

Depending on the style of the dress, could you get some serious smoothing undies?

At that weight and height, water weight will make no difference at all to how you look unless you're severly bloated and even then it will be on your tummy not your back.

Sounds to me like you were laced up too tightly, I second the idea of a wrap/ jacket if you feel it's going to make your day uncomfortable.

Not really on the undies - [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BgH2TIvCQAE_Fg6.jpg]] is the back of the dress. It was a sample so they put a lace-up back in it for me, but problem is when I am laced up there is a spillage issue down where the dress starts. I don't think a bolero will work with the shoulders.

I've booked a wrap for tomorrow 3pm. I may have to try the diuretics, even with the pee-age! I'll get out my body brush in the meantime and try to drink a lot of water.

I am marginally less panicky now. Thanks all.

In 2.5 days nothing even if you stage yourself but then you'll be too weak to enjoy your big day.

I bet you don't look fat. Like someone else suggested maybe get a wrap to give yourself some confidence?

Exfoliate, body makeup or fake tan and draw a line of shimmer down your upper arms and blend - this really does make all the difference as it draws the eye to the thinner line.

It's beautiful! I agree that a wrap or jacket won't be great

Did someone else lace you up? Can you get your chief bridesmaid to come over and have a play with it to see how it can be done up to fit but not squeeze you in?

OP there is nothing physically you can do to lose weight in 2 days.

Your dress is beautiful.
Own it on the day, you're the star of the show, shoulders back, chin up, big smile and enjoy your day.

I would second not taking a diuretic! I took one when I went to the US as always really bloat up after a long flight and it was awful - gave me the most hideous windy/painful tummy :(

You did not get fat between last Saturday and today. You didn't, honestly. You will be fine. People will not be looking as critically at your back as you are. They really won't! They'll be looking at your lovely hair and make up, about the loveliness of your dress... Relax and enjoy it.

That's such a beautiful dress. I think the mesh at the back will hide a lot of your back. And you will look stunning.
