Best way to lose 8lbs in 8 weeks...

...and anyone fancy joining me?

We go on holiday in 8 weeks time and I want / need to lose 8lbs to put me back down to my ideal weight of 9 stone 6 lbs.

I'm thinking of just healthy eating, no junk, no alcohol, more water, more exercise... maybe logging my calories with My Fitness Pal - is it doable? Any tips?

I'll weigh myself once a week and will check in here if people are up for it?...

Thank you!

Can I join you. We go in 10 weeks and in the last month my weight has shot up. A pound a week sounds good to me. Sensible eating and extra exercise

ButterflyOfFreedom · 28/04/2017 19:28

Of course!

I know I've put on a few pounds this past month - I blame Easter (felt it was responsible parenting to help my DC eat their chocolate eggs!!)

Will weigh myself on Monday morning and report back- good luck!

Definitely doable! No alcohol, no juices, no milk in tea or coffee, just black coffee and lots of water would be my first port of call. Healthy meals and eat early your larger meal for lunch with a smaller meal in the evening.

I've started doing my fitness pal and it is TERRIFYING how many odd calories here and there I eat e.g. Nibbling from the kids plates etc. The app has really helped me keep a limit on that. My daily limit is set to help me loose 1lb a week and it's not too restrictive I don't think. I'm allowed 1600 calories a day. Sometimes I go over (wine, treats,) but mostly thereabouts so figure slow and steady is fine.

I looked at this thread with interest until I saw your weight I'm 11 stone 7 after my 3rd child and would kill to be your weight. Good luck though Confused that's genuine honest I'm not jealous at all.

creaser I spent my whole life being 9 and a half stone and then after baby 2 I am now over 11. I'm short so it looks more. We've had a really rough couple of years since he was born and it's only now that he is 2 that I feel I can try and get back to feeling like myself again. Join me!!

Definitely although your name doesn't give me confidence you'll stay off the cake!! Lol only kidding if I can get back to 11 I'll be happy 10 and a half I'll be a new woman. I'm doing Zumba once a week at the minute and pretending I'm dieting by having crackerbreads for lunch then tea and a biscuit like ten times a day!! Hope all is good with your son now. Smile

Hmm, not sure I could give up milk in my tea - I do only have skimmed milk and usually only about 3 cups a day so I think I'll be ok! I don't often drink coffee and rarely alcohol these days. I do have (orange) juice every morning with breakfast and not sure I'm willing to give that up plus I see that as 1 of my 5 a day!
Thanks for the advice though!
Definitely more water & smaller portions - I do have a big appetite!!!!

creaser please do join us! 8 lbs is 8lbs regardless of your starting weight. Everyone is a different height / frame / shape / size etc and has different target weights. For me 9 stone 6lbs is what I'm aiming for. For as long as I can remember I've always been between 9 stone 2 and 10 stone 2 (apart from when I've been pregnant and properly piled on the pounds!!).

So it was my official weigh in this morning - 9 stone 11
I was pleasantly surprised as thought I'd put on more than that and my 'diet' starts today in a bid to get to 9 stone 6!
How's everyone else getting on?

Can I join?

I am also on a mission to lose weight before holidays in late July.
I have lost 4lbs in two weeks and have about 12 lbs to go. Find it always gets slower towards the goal so think this could take a while.

Doing healthy eating, no snacks, more vegetarian meals, no alcohol and so much exercise... I am annoyed as I lost all this last spring and then stupidly put it back on during winter. I have now come to realise I simply cannot afford to eat like I did in my 20s. Boo.

Re: exercise, I try to run 3 times a week and do kettlebell HIIT sessions someone else mentioned in another thread.

Today, have walked 10k just to work and between meetings...

3500 calories ( in theory) equal 1lb. So you could either cut 500 calories off your daily diet or cut 300 and burn the other 200 (think small slice of cake and like 20mins of cardio :))
