Can I lose two stones in 12 weeks?

Obviously it is possible, but how do-able is it? I'd like to hear from anyone who has managed this or similar, or who has a similar goal.

I have started my diet today and plan to do a low-ish fat calorie-controlled diet and some home workout DVDs. I am using MFP to track my calories. I'm planning 1200 calories for the first two weeks then will increase it to 1400 and really ramp up the exercise then too. Does this sound do-able?Or just a pipe dream? All tips will be gratefully received.

Hi
I am sorry, I have not been back to this thread in a while. I am at work so will read your replies and respond later.

Had my first official weigh-in this morning and I am down by 5lb in my first week! Grin

I've heard good things about BS diet too.

Hi Fat - I understand but just still find it a bit wierd.
Read the book as it is not limitless fat, and it is essential fats mainly like those in nuts, seeds avocados, olive oil, hemp oil, nut oil some butter full fat yogurt ( these do not just give energy but feed the brain and produce satiety too - unlike sugar). You do also need vegetables and protein.

Kind Dogs - that seems to make sense, thanks

Regarding a high fat low carb diet - I've been trying this for a few days and have lost about three pounds so far, which is brilliant for me. However. I had my cholesterol tested and saw the GP today who told me my cholesterol is too high - 5.9 and that I should cut out fats. Any thoughts?

Hi garnethair, if you look on the previous page somebody kindly linked to loads of info about this.

I think that advice about cholesterol is now out of date. The sorts of fats on The Mediterranean low blood sugar diet are mostly healthy unsaturated fats anyway, and it is not that you eat a massive amount of them. Have you read the Low Blood Sugar diet book by Michael Mosely? If not you might find it very helpful.

The dangerous fats in arteries are more likely to come from eating too much sugar and carbohydrates. I think it explains in the book that these cause insulin which in turn causes the sugars to be stored as fat.

Thank you. I shall order that book right now.

This is very inspiring. We're off on a cruise in August and I would like to lose 2st so that I can have fun in the sun rather than hiding indoors all the time!! I've been at it a week and have lost 4lb. I think I'll drag myself along to the gym on Saturday and burn off some extra calories. Every little helps!!
