Am I the only one doing ATKINS?

I started Atkins again on Monday to loose 2 stone and so far so good.

Am I the only Atkins survivor here, its the only diet that has ever worked for me.

After 9 months of sensible eating, training in the gym and working with a personal trainer, and STILL 1 stone overweight, I am starting Atkins next week when I get back from holiday. I have endured enough of the "9 months on, 9 months off" little chestnut until I want to scream. I am tired of having patience. I want it off so people stop asking me if I'm expecting. Enough is enough... And like you, Atkins is the only diet that works like a charm for me. So, apologies for ranting on your thread, but I am going to do this as a fellow Atkins survivor!

I'm low carbing at the moment too.

Already lost 2 stone, another 2 to go.

I've done 4lbs since Monday and its easy. I loved the fried breakfast I treated myself to yesterday to the envy of all around me starving themselves on the low fat version.

Am doing my own version - basically low carbs, but do have a glass of red wine in the evenings on Fi & Sat! and have lost 2 kilos this month. drinking lots of cups of decaf tea whcioh really helps to keep me off anything heavier. Also have a big pan of chicken stock (boiled up from last weekends chicken and leftover veg) and get a mugful of that from time to time.
As the only exercise i get is walking to the car (which is parked on the drive) I need to up that. Funnily enoguh when I do exercise i feel less hungry (!?!) Saw an interesting gadget advertised that you ride like a horse - sort of exercise bike but riding movement, that DH thinks looks hilarious and slightly kinky!! But gets good results apparently (I am a sucker for miracle cures...!)

can you tell me a bit about atkins please? i fancy giving it a try but all the websites are far too complicated for me. What things are you not meant to eat and what can you eat?
thanks

I cheat as well since I cannot drink coffee without milk but apart from that its easy.

Just avoid bread, potatoes and pasta and other high carb foods and eat protein. For lunch I had a cheese and ham omlette with some nuts as a snack. I have to confess to buying Atkins style chocolate bars from Tesco to get me though a chocolate craving. The other good thing is Strawberries and cream.

Yay, I have lost 7lbs in 10 days. I complete the induction on Tuesday. I don't miss rice or potatoes but I do fancy bread and miss snacks. I went online and bought some very overpriced low carb, snack bars, bread, bread rolls and cake...they deliver next week...can't wait. Should last me a while as it is not something you can gorge on but at least I can give myself a treat. I must admit I am sick of cooked breakfast now, can't wait until I can up my carb intake a bit more as I think I will stop that as soon as possible. I would much prefer a low carb yoghurt or cereal instead. I am hoping I can lose the next 7lbs as quick as the first and that will be enough weight loss for me. I think I could comfortably survive on about 60gram of carbs a day. Good luck to the rest of you.

I used to do atkins, and I found it difficult to loose weight, even though I stayed really low on carbs and was always in ketosis...I even got off the pill, because whilest on it I could not loose any weight...also, when on it, after a while people told me I looked really grey, etc...and unhealthy...and the rancid breath really didn't work for me, or anyone in my environment...must say, I am not gonna try it again, but it's good to see other people having better luck with it!

3easterbunniesandnomore · 24/03/2007 20:07

oh, can I just say though, ever since my atkins days, I do not eat as much bread. As I foudn that was my worst offender in wieght gain, after the ludicrous amount of chocolates, lol....

Hi, I am new to the boards, and started Atkins today. Black de-caff coffeee is horrible, I have had 3 cups today to kill the hunger pains !! Ive 1/2 stone to lose to get back to pre-baby weight, (Erin was born December 28th) then another 1/2 stone to get back to my ideal weight, any more will be a bonus but not a neccessity !
