He just took a picture as it's Mother's Day. I actually thought I looked ok today. I do not! I have an under active thyroid which makes weight loss harder. I have done slimming world before and it did work but then I put it all back on. Any suggestions on which diet to do? What has worked for you guys?

Similar happened to me a a wedding the other weekend. I thought I was wearing a nice floaty top, but when I saw a photo of later I realised I was just wearing a tent with stumpy legs underneath.

I then stood on the scales and realised the few lbs I thought I'd put on was more like 20!! I signed up to weight watchers on line yesterday, I did it years ago and it worked for me and I did keep it off for a good while. Hopefully it will work this time too.

ive just joined weight watchers online too! second day following the plan and im finding it easy enough and am not starving or anything.

Looking through.the app when planning meals has helped me to make better choices.

I have an underactive thyroid and managed to lose weight with the Freedom Diet that I saw talked about here. I only had a stone to lose but my weight had gradually been creeping up for years and I was trying to diet but putting weight on. And on. The freedom diet is basically a whole host of recipes tailored to suit you and your food preferences. I can now have more of the things I have avoided (chocolate, wine) but still eat many of the recipes - especially for breakfast and lunch as I enjoy them so much. My weight does fluctuate a lb or two over a month but I have pretty much maintained my weight loss (plus to minus 1lb of my target) for 6 weeks now.

Its worth having a read through all of the diet threads and seeing what works best for you. Deciding this is it, is the big first step necessary in losing weight and you have already achieved that.

I have an overactive thyroid and weight loss is nigh on impossible!

Thanks all, I've started low carbing after reading sown threads on here. I guess the photo was the kick start I needed.
I'll look at the freedom diet as well. I had an overactive thyroid and weight dropped off but since I had treatment and my thyroid is now under active it's much tougher to loose weight. Can't use that as an excuse though! Need to get motivated!

Put the picture on the fridge or somewhere you'll see it in the kitchen. At Xmas my dad took a beautiful picture of my sisters - and I looked like a fat little potato with my hair pulled back. It's on the fridge and with a bit more exercise and a better diet I've over half a stone off. I want to do it slowly and gradually so I don't put it back on!
