I know it's probably not the best diet in the world but I do have alot to loose and i hate thinking what i can and can't have and it's simple. Juse wondered if anyone wanted to do it with me, even if it's a different diet so to speak. I've been told off by doctor and in the big bit on the graph. i feel down and it's constantly in the back of my head. I don't feel big it's just when i look at myself i think ' god is tha really me'. So anyone???

I don't think it would be worth it. Surely once you've lost all that weight and then go back to normal eating, you'll just put it all back on? Boring as it sounds, weight stays off when you lose it slowly.

Aloveheart · 06/03/2007 09:28

Yep i know that and aware that if i go back to the way you ate before you'll put the weight back on but i would say that for every diet. This is it, i will do the maintanence part of it to keep the weight off. I have done slim fast in past and it suits me. I just didn't stick to it when i should have. But I NEED to do it now.

Hi, i have been just looking Slim fast up and i am going to try this diet. I am getting very upset about my weight and want to do sumthing about it....Im not over weight as such but carry all me weight round my tummy!! ITS HUGE lol,..anyway, i want to this this and would be great if others are doing it too, so we can all motivate each other. Iv bought a Slim Fast shake, just to try, so let shope it tastes nice

FC2007 · 20/03/2007 12:31

why not try somehtin like weight watchers. by the time you have paid for all the slimsat it porbably adds up to the cost of goign to meetings. PLus you really get the mothivation to change lifestyle

Aloveheart · 20/03/2007 12:36

I can't go to waightwatchers meetings i don't wanna be weighed in front of everyone. I don't like teh choice either. I like slim fast it's suits me to a T. mine lasts about a week a tin so that's £4.75 a week. NO special books you need to buy when you join etc etc. But that's my personal opinion.

But everyohe is different what suits one won't suit the other.

Go to slimfast.co.uk you find lots on there.

I mentioned this on another thread but I saw this on Amazon yesterday and it has 183 reviews and most of them positive. A one off cost and it appears to work. I have no experience of it btw, just thought I would share.

The problem with meal replacement diets is that they don't help you to change your habits and attitude to food so when you start eat properly again, unless you have made a big effort to revise your habits, chances are you will put the weight on again.

Good luck with what you decide to do!

Nip · 20/03/2007 12:47

i'm considering doing this - so i'll be keen to see how you get on.... i'll check the website out

laughinglil · 20/03/2007 15:12

speedymama.. in a way i disagree with you on that one. A meal replacement diet can teach you about eating habits changing them. I was on slimming world for ages and lost a stone but that took months and months and as soon as I started eating what I wanted it all went back on.
However last year I was on the cambridge diet which is completly meal replacements unlike slim fast and I lost 4 stone. I have completly changed my eating habits as I know that if I went back to eating what I did before then the weight would go straight back on. I have maintained give or take a few pounds for over a year now.

Aloveheart · 21/03/2007 09:32

Well done!!! With any diet if you go back to your eating habits you put the weight back on. You've got to try to maintain your weight so eat healthy. I personally get annoyed with ww and slimming world, I hate having to decide what i can and can't have. I like slim fast because you have the milkshake/soup or whatever and you don't have to think about it. I had a chocolate milkshake this morning. It's packed with vitamins and i know it doesn't suit for all people, but it fills me up. I have alot more energy now as before when i ate i didn't. I'm not a big eater but looking at me you think i would be. But i would go all day without eating and eat in teh evening and i think i put myself on starvation mode, so whatever i ate was stored iyswim. I have lots of stone to loose and i am really determind to do it. I have also brought myself an mp3 player so when i walk i try to walk that bit quicker, and i have a steep hill i have to walk up 2/3 times a day.

oh god, tried a bananna slim fast shake today,...not keen on it at all urrrghhh!! Thats that idea down teh drain maybe i'l try the choccie one

Aloveheart · 21/03/2007 12:17

Was it a pre made one?? or did you make it yourself, i don't like the premade stuff but like the powders you make yourself. I have chocolate at eh min and it's nice. I think they use URT long life milk in those premade ones so doesnt' taste nice.

OP posts:
Prettyfull · 21/03/2007 20:59

Yeah premade must have been that!Is it easy enough to make the powder one and do ya know how much it costs?? Im so short on money its hard to buy all these bars and meals

Thanks for advise though, didnt even know they did a diff type of shake

Aloveheart · 22/03/2007 22:31

Yeah it's about 4.75 in morrisons. you get 12 or more shakes. Good luck whatever you decide though.

OP posts:
hercules1 · 29/03/2007 18:19

Just started this recently. I prefer the premaid actually and agree about it being an easy one to do as takes little thought. I've done it before and lost a lot of weight really quickly but suffered other health problems because of it.

I do think it can help change habits as you are not stuffing your face as I do for the remainder of the day!
