So I've been looking at both just lately, trying to work out which is best, what fits? I have friends on S/W and friends on W/W they say there way is best. But wont/can't give me a why?
What's the costs involved? What do you get for you membership?
What happens when you reach your goal weight as a few friends have put the weight back on and are now back at there meetings? What happens at the meetings?
And why the rest bound weight?
Any one looked into other weigh loss programs?
Sorry for soo many questions !!
Thanks for reading, spk soon x

Count calories, don't join either!
Syns, free food, eat as much of a certain food as u like?
Its nonsense, eat less calls than you burn and don't complicate that by wasting money on these clubs!
I feel by attending that somehow it shifts the responsibility of losing weight to someone else.
Do it for yourself, eat what you enjoy, make wise choices and weigh yourself weekly.
I know my opinion will be unpopular but when you strip away all the reasons you must go to a club you will realise its to keep the diet industry going!

Losing weight isn't always as simple as "eat less, move more". Personally I have mental health issues which impact on my relationship with food - I need the structure and support to succeed.

Completely agree with you BLB. I'm a mildly compulsive over eater, ie I eat when I'm not hungry but not to massive excess, and I also need the structure, motivation and support that comes from attending my weekly meeting.

Because of the above, I probably wouldn't get on with SW, as the 'eat from the free foods until you're comfortably full' bit kinda passes me by and I'd eat until I was a little TOO full. So, I've been at WW for seven, yes SEVEN, years. I started in my early (ish) 40s), weighing in at 15 stones (size 20). I turn 50 in six weeks and will be weighing in at 8 stones 13lbs (size 8).

I really couldn't have done that on my own and the cost, time and effort have been so worth it that I can't express it in words.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess but that's what works for me Smile

Weight watchers is basically complicated calorie counting, you can have whatever you want as long as it's within your points and you keep track of everything you're having.

Slimming world is more about changing what you're having, paying attention to when you're full and only keeping track of certain high calorie items.

Long term it'll depend which suits you better.

ALemonyPea · 01/02/2017 12:04

I've done both. I lost the same stone over and over again on WW before giving up. I've lost 6 stone with slimming world, and still going 10 months on.

With WW you can eat anything, but have to weigh and measure it.

With SW you can eat what you like from a long list, and you can have restricted foods which are synned, you can have 15 a day or 105 a week, so you can have wine etc, but limited.

A lot of people think SW is about eating muller lights and fry light, you can do it without doing that. For me it's about fruit, veg, lan cuts of meat and I'm changing my eating habits long term. With WW I was still have 2/3 packets of crisps a day and counting those in my points as a meal rather than eating proper food.

I think SW is a lot better than it used to be with it's relatively new focus on the proportion of certain foods on your plate. Sound principles for life.
