Slim fast? Anyone?

I'm doing Slimfast. Probably only for a few weeks to give me a quick boost to weight loss, before I go on to my usual calorie counting.

I have done 4 days and lost 4lb so far. Around 2 stone to lose in total.

Anyone else?

Sorry can't help with making up powder in advance. I'm using prepare shakes or the meal bars which are obviously very portable. I just walk for exercise but no reason why you couldn't do more. It all adds up to 1200cal which is plenty for exercise.

Completely understand your point about not being motivated to eat well - I always reach a point during a diet when I feel thinner and get loads more motivated to continue and be good.

Hi, I'm a newbie, but have some SF experience. If you have a nutri bullet or similar machine try making your powder shakes in that with about 6 ice cubes plus the measured amount of liquid. It makes a fabulous thick cold shake that it quite satisfying. The chocolate and cafe latte are best. One word of advice though, use the larger cup to prepare as the ice does bulk it up and can spill out into the base of the machine if you use the smaller beaker and will eventually knackered the motor!

StewardsEnquiry · 15/01/2017 19:55

Agree that the cafe latte and the chocolate shakes are the best!

I have just taken delivery of my third 7 day starter pack. I've been doing it for two weeks and lost 5lb exactly. I'm pleased with that but so so annoyed with myself for putting the weight on again in the first place. I have waves of feeling pissed off with myself.

It's wasted energy stew. Try to let it go.

I don't know about you but it's always certain things that lead to me putting on weight. For me it's been bouts of looking after people who are ill or being ill or stressed to distraction myself. And it's always almost exactly 10lbs every time. It's like some kind of psychological buffer. The problem comes when a second 10lb goes on before the first has come back off Grin

But it's just life and being human. No point beating yourself up Smile

I screwed up and ate hobnobs yesterday without thinking (DH offered them during a film) so moving on today afresh.

StewardsEnquiry · 17/01/2017 13:34

Thanks Manumission. I feel better today. I have been looking through my wardrobe and I'm looking forward to fitting in some really nice things I have. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll be able to get in more than one pair of trousers!

How is everyone else doing?

Hi ladies! Can I please join in?

I plan to start SF tomorrow. I currently weigh 18 and a half stone Blush
I am a major emotional eater and use sugar as a comforting crutch.

I did SF over three years ago and lost almost 3 stone. Then we moved to a new area and I was so homesick I totally lost the plot and put all the weight back on by eating junk every day.

I am currently the biggest I've ever been, a size 22-24 and I hate it.

I have the shakes and the snacks all ready but still have no ideas really about the meals.

Chewbecca · 17/01/2017 18:26

First weigh in tomorrow, though a sneak peak this morning suggested a 2lb loss thus far, which I'm pleased with given Saturday night's shenanigans. Will check tomorrow, if I'm really lucky it'll be even better as perfect day today.

Welcome welcome (that amused me), I've found all the SF products to be very sweet so you might be ok. I've a sweet tooth but, if anything, I am craving savoury (unheard of for me). I actually dreamt of my usual sushi lunch last night. I could have it for a 500 kcal dinner one day perhaps but still need to feed the family so not v convenient.

Still finding the shakes and bars really filling and am not hungry. Long may it last!

I've not changed dinners too much, just counted calories ish using MFP and cutting down portion if too large. Obviously nothing overly buttery/oily/creamy. But I've not been too strict on dinner cals to be honest. May regret that later!

StewardsEnquiry · 18/01/2017 13:37

My dinners are just what I normally have tbh. 600cal seems plenty for fish, veg and some potatoes or rice or something, which is what I usually have. I eat quite simply.

The meal bars are really chewy which helps me to feel like I've eaten something a bit more substantial.

I'm still finding it quite easy. Not hungry except for early evening when I am due to have my dinner anyway. The convenience of the SF is absolutely fantastic and it is allowing me to just get on with everything else in my life - freeing up loads of mental energy!

Confirmed a 2.5lb loss in week 1 for me which is great considering I didn't stick to the 600cal religiously over the weekend.

However, today I am working for home and just could not bring myself to have my shake for breakfast. I'm taking a day off I think, I just want to eat real, savoury food. I will calorie count though. I was out last night and had roughly 2/3 bottle of wine, which I suspect may be why, who wants to eat sweet food after drinking? Moral of story is cut out the wine I think!

StewardsEnquiry · 19/01/2017 13:26

Well done Chewbacca. 2.5lb is great.

I haven't had any wine for ages but I do enjoy a glass or two (ahem) so I am not planning to cut it out completely.

I am on a roll now though with the weight loss. I have lost 6lb altogether and although I can't see any difference yet in my clothes fitting I have the virtuous cycle going - I am losing weight so I want to stick to the diet carefully to make sure I lose more.

The shake in the morning is actually the favourite bit of the diet for me because I am thirsty in a morning, so drinking a milky drink is actually really appealing.

6lb is v good, is that in a fortnight?
I'd hope for slight waistband loosening with 6lb, hopefully you'll get that this week.

I got back on by lunchtime yesterday, had a bar then, plus a small banana for a snack. Light dinner (out so not measured but I'm sure no more than 500 cals) but another 2/3 bottle of wine (out at book club). So a far from perfect day but could've been worse.

Back on the shake this morning, but going out for lunch! Bloody socialising! Will try to make v good choices (it's a deli) and skip the snacks & hopefully I'll end up under 1500 cals, maybe less. No wine today! (Out for drinks tomorrow night though).

Hi everyone!
I've started today.
(I bought natural breakfast bars instead of the slim fast ones- I'm using the slim fast shakes)

I'm have a bar in the morning before school run.
When I'm back I have a shake.
Then come 1pm I'm having my main meal (I'm not calorie counting this meal) it will be meat and veg or salad! In the afternoon if I'm hungry I will hve fruit or veg.
Dinner I'm having a shake.
Evening if I'm hungry fruit and veg or a bar.

Wish me luck!!!! I've started today, so far so good.
Will weight myself next on Saturday morning.
Smile
