i lost my belly just through running

dinny · 20/02/2007 19:44

how often, how much, sazjaz?

fizzbuzz · 20/02/2007 19:53

jaynel, have just started seeing a personal trainer for this very reason.

Did 7 weeks of situps (200) every night. Stomach still huge, but now hard.

Trainer has given me new exercises. Have been doing them 2 weeks, no difference yet, but they are much harder than situps.

Am completely pissed off with it, spent all weekend googling tummy tucks.(sad)

sazjaz · 20/02/2007 19:55

You can't spot reduce weight it comes off all over. Doing tummy exrcises will help the muscles but won't get rid of fat in this area. The way to lose the fat is to lose overeall weight and bodyfat.

good information here

ScottishThistle · 20/02/2007 19:59

Depends on your tummy muscles, if they're fu**ed you'll never get rid of it with diet/exercise I'm afraid!...A friend of mine had a tummy tuck at 29, Dr said he'd never seen anything like it!

sazjaz · 20/02/2007 20:04

i have a 4 pack the bottom set of muscles refuse to nit together

fizzbuzz · 20/02/2007 20:14

But how does having a ceasarean F* tummy muscles? I am a whole lot lighter than I was before getting prgnant and my stomach is awful.

Used to be a smallish size 14, now to fasten clothes I have to buy a 16, and they hang off me everywhere else. It looks ridiculous. Am really really pissed off by it.

ScottishThistle · 20/02/2007 20:16

Your muscles may not have knitted back together, it's not uncommon.

Mandymoo · 20/02/2007 20:18

so, if your tummy muscles dont knit back together, will your tummy always look like a bag of spuds?

fizzbuzz · 20/02/2007 20:29

How do we make them knit? Have loads of knitting needles!

ScottishThistle · 20/02/2007 20:31

Afraid so...you'll never achieve a flat un spud like tummy with muscles which won't knit!

Mandymoo · 20/02/2007 20:53

thats not fair! So, what are our options for a normal looking tum then?

fizzbuzz · 20/02/2007 21:02

Why won't they knit, or how did they unknit?
Am seriously pissed off now..........

Are you sure it's not overstretched skin? YOu won't get rid of that with any amount of exercise.

I'm very slim, my abs are quite toned, legs and arms etc, small waist. However, the bit under my belly button is all crinkly and a bit saggy and there is nowt I can do about it, short of surgery adn I ain't that desperate!

I'm just getting back into regular, high impact exercise now so I'll let you know if it makes a difference!

sarflondon · 20/02/2007 21:07

Hi Jaynel they are hard to get the hang of but bicycle curls are really good. Ordinary sit ups take a long time to work. I run a lot but didn't lose my saggy tum until I started doing these a few times a week.

Mandymoo · 20/02/2007 21:07

better start saving for a tummy tuck then hadnt i?!

fizzbuzz · 20/02/2007 21:20

Can you describe a bicycle curl?

jaynel · 21/02/2007 09:07

how do i do a bicycle curl? i am very slim everywhere execpt for my tum, i look about 3 months pregnant, it horrible, im going on holiday in may and dreading wearing a bikini
