Just that really. I was going to start Slimming World again on Friday. I've half heartedly been following WW as I wanted to sort portions blah blah blah etc etc.

I woke up today and have just had enough. I'm bored of it all. Ironically, I weigh far more than I ever did before I started dieting almost 8yrs ago.
I never had before and was always between 8-9 stone. I had gained a stone after having DS2 and decided to go along to SW.
I now have 4 stone to lose Blush and I'm so sick of diets!
Any tips? Anyone tried Paul Mckenna? Is it another fad?

Glad you feel positive about it, kittycat. I think I ate a bit less yesterday too and kept off cake/chocs too, which are still hanging around from my birthday. Good luck to all PMers!

73kittycat73 · 30/01/2017 14:58

Well done on not eating the cakes and choc drigon! I don't know if I could be that disciplined yet..lol I must admit, I do plan to have a slice of chocolate cake next week. It's my mums birthday. We are both dieting and it will be a one off treat.

OliviaBishop · 30/01/2017 21:05

I am considering buying this as I eat too much out of boredom & stress and I am at least 1 stone heavier than when I was 9 months pregnant .

However I am skint this month and want to make sure it is worth trying!

How long do you need to listen to it each day? I have 4 children so finding much spare time every day isnt always easy Shock

drigon · 30/01/2017 21:46

Hi Olivia, I think it's around 1/2 an hour long, but you can listen before bed. In fact, it does help you drop off to sleep. The 4 rules of it are (if I can remember)-
WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY-EAT.
EAT WHAT YOU WANT, NOT WHAT YOU THINK YOU SHOULD.
EAT CONSCIOUSLY, ENJOY EVERY MOUTHFUL.
WHEN YOU THINK YOU ARE FULL-STOP EATING!

You need to practice for quite a while to get the hang of it. Hope that Helps!

drigon · 30/01/2017 21:53

You also need to try to slow down when eating. Put your knife and fork down between mouthfuls, put your sandwich on your plate as you eat etc. It will help you eat more consciously and hopefully eat less.

73kittycat73 · 31/01/2017 00:27

Hi OliviaBishop, Smile whilst I'm not following the plan to the letter (Like with breakfast, don't wait 'till I'm hungry, but do for the rest of the day.) I like the plan. It's not about punishment for going off plan, or having to eat certain foods (Though the CD does encourage you to go for the healthier option. I have found that to work!). There are three exercises you are supposed to do daily in the mirror, all positive stuff. It encourages and nurtures. I would recommend it personally.
Hi drigon, how have you done today? I've been quite good.

73kittycat73 · 31/01/2017 00:29

Doh, drigonjust re-read your post saying how you've done today. Should have gone to specsavers!

73kittycat73 · 31/01/2017 16:20

How are we all doing today? I'm going to have to be tough on Saturday. My nieces are coming round on my mums' birthday and want a cake. (We are having the chocolate one on Sunday, after being weighed, so will have a whole month to burn it off. [groin] ) Must...resist...cake... :p

73kittycat73 · 31/01/2017 16:22

Lol, Mondy even, and not groin! Lol, don't know where that came from. Must proof read more! Grin < Did it right this time. :p

73kittycat73 · 31/01/2017 16:22

I give up. Confused

Octopus37 · 31/01/2017 17:44

I am doing ok ish. Probably not following PM to the letter, but I am definitely eating a bit less. Will weigh in on Thursday which should give me an idea how I'm dealing

Octopus37 · 31/01/2017 17:45

Doing even

73kittycat73 · 31/01/2017 17:55

Lol, it's catching Oct. Grin Good luck for Thursday!

Zoidberg · 01/02/2017 10:18

I used it a few years ago and it really helped, I found writing the journal made it work better for me. I completed two of them and definitely developed a positive attitude during that and that was key for me, along with visualisation.

drigon · 01/02/2017 14:31

Yes, Zoidberg, the journal is very good to keep you on track. I've filled up 2 as well. Need a new one! I have to weigh every day for medical reasons and I've lost around 1 lb so far in 1/2 a week so 13.6 now. You are not supposed to weigh yourself too often, mind. Good luck to all!

73kittycat73 · 01/02/2017 14:46

I forgot about the journal. I remember, I didn't want to write in it with my messy handwriting and mess it up! lol

Zoidberg · 02/02/2017 14:49

I bought secondhand ones (unused) and covered them in nice wrapping paper as I was a bit embarrassed about having them lying around. Def good for helping us focus on the positive and I do believe weight loss has to be about that (indeed any life change). Carry on the good work Smile

73kittycat73 · 04/02/2017 01:17

How's everyone doing today?
I have my nieces round tomorrow so lots of crisps, chocolate, and cake will be round to tempt me. Must stay strong!

FaithAgain · 04/02/2017 10:47

I've done this on and off for years. I've got all of them - gastric band, ICMYT and Freedom from emotional eating. My downfall was around Eat what you want. I was a carb addict. No matter how sensible I was at applying the rules and doing the hypnosis, I struggled to combat the carb cravings due to such a poor diet. I ended up going to SW - the basic principles there about adding fruit and veg to your meals and limiting processed food has really changed things for me. I still folllow the PM rules of slowing my eating down, stopping when I'm full and listening to the hypnosis at night and the combination is working well for me.

Octopus37 · 04/02/2017 17:38

How's everyone doing. I weighed myself on Wednesday but have fallen off the wagon again cause I have been quite stressed. Will get back on.

73kittycat73 · 05/02/2017 02:16

Another carb addict here FaithAgain. I couldn't live without potatoes! Grin Seeriously, I don't know what I'd eat if I cut out carbs. I'm a vegie to start with so meat is off the menu. Don't like sweetpotato. I do like lots of veg though, but surely they are side dishes? Not the main event iyswim? What have you started eating instead of carbs if you don't mind me asking?
Hi Octopus. Sorry to hear you are feeling stressed. Flowers I hope you feel better soon.

73kittycat73 · 05/02/2017 02:17

*Seriously even. lol

FaithAgain · 05/02/2017 13:49

Hmm I'm not sure about veggie low carb?! Sure it can be done, I confess I relied on lots of meat. I could only manage low carbing for about 4 weeks before I fell off the waggon. For some reason I've had chronic abdo pain since (possibly set off by eating lots of nuts?) so I won't be doing it again. I eat plenty of carbs now but far less processsd foods. Now that I'm in the groove with this WOE I'm not really craving the sugary, refined carbs I was once addicted to in the same way.

drigon · 05/02/2017 22:12

Not doing brilliantly tbh! Kept off chocs, cakes, biscuits etc but still eating around 2300 cals and maintaining my weight at 13 stone 7. Maybe I need to slow down my eating. Will try harder!

73kittycat73 · 06/02/2017 21:15

Hi everyone. Smile Well, I got weighed today and I was a bit disappointed. I lost 9lbs. I know that's better than gaining but it works out at 2 1/4lbs per week. I gave up so many crisps, cakes and chocolate for that! I used to eat about 4 chocolate bars a day as well as cake. Maybe I tried too hard. Didn't eat enough and my metabolism slowed down? Anyway, I was pleased with my inch loss from my waist, 3 1/2 ", one from my bust and 2 from my hips.
I'm investing in a stepper this weekend so hopefully that will help as well.
Good luck all, hope you are doing ok?
