Anyone want to join me on a no added sugar month? Had been doing great on 5:2 but had a bit of a slip so back up to 10stone rather than my happy 9'8-9'10. Need a boost and think aimless sweet snacks are the cause!

I would be happy to join you.

I am on a 'No Sugar' year.

I have lost almost a stone since January, but at 10:4 wouldn't mind losing another 11lb.

I am pretty much on top of no 'added sugar, but know that short, dark days and the run into Christmas could prove the most challenging period yet.

Hurrah! Fast day here so had nothing but tea until scrambled eggs with the kids.

Woopsie do you have any tips? Do you eat things like bread etc?

Just to say right up front I had a very good reason for radically overhauling my diet. I had two Heart Attacks last Autumn, caused by a silent Genetic condition which leads to a massive build up of Cholesterol in the body.

I survived, but was told that the next time I might not.

So, I did a lot of research which indicated that removing Sugar from the diet could reduce both Cholesterol & Triglycerides.

I actually removed added Sugar & Meat from my diet. Apart from Oats, I also only eat unrefined Carbohydrates. That means no Bread, Cakes etc. etc.

I eat a Pescetarian diet, with masses of Veg and low fructose fruit.

In practice that means Oats & Berries for Breakfast. Either in the form of Overnight Oats or Porridge made with frozen berries. The latter is fab.

Lunch is usually a Veg soup of some kind and Supper a Veg Curry, Stir Fry, Fish Pie (with Root Veg mash), Salad etc. My treats are Nuts and very occasionally a couple of squares of 90%.

The change was so dramatic for me that I had to rethink all of my cooking. I used Pinterest and just typed in Vegetarian, Pescetarian etc. Up came hundreds of really lovely recipes !!

Oh just to add. I do eat eggs and small amounts of Cheese.

Thanks woopsie. Not finding it too hard but have woke with a massive headache today.

Have decided to allow homemade bread as we don't use sugar and it is rye bread. Avoiding all white carbs unless given them at someone else's house.
You still there numbo?

The headache is fierce. Dring plenty of fluids to flush the toxins out of your system.

Sugar is highly addictive (I read somewhere that it is as addictive as some Class A drugs). It is not going to let you go without a fight.

I think your plan is good. Any reduction is positive and you can always re-evaluate later if necessary.
