12 stone, going out every weekend till Xmas, how much weight can I lose if any?!

Can I expect to lose anything at all if I calorie count during the week but then go out at weekend to restaurants/bars?

This is always a really busy time of the year for me with lots of friend and family birthdays and so on. I can't pull out of the weekends out/away, but at the same time I am now clearly very overweight for 5'6" and could do with losing a bit before Christmas if it's at all possible?

I think you can. Try to stay below 1200 calories a day in the week. When you're being good, be angelic.

At the weekends Try to avoid carbs as much as you can and avoid desserts. Drink dry white wine or gin and slimline tonic.

Or I lost 4lb in this period last year by cutting out almost all sugar except red wine. No fruit even, just veggies. But I didn't calorie count so life was more fun.

I think you can lose some. I've just lost 4 stone by using MFP and cutting down on carbs and sugar. You'll effectively be doing 5:2 with 5 lower calorie days.

Then try to make healthier choices when you're out. Use MFP to help plan if you know what's going to be served. Prawn cocktail without the dressing has very few calories but pate and toast has loads. Avoid creamy sauces. Skip pudding if you can. Gin and slimline instead of wine.

I was stunned that MFP showed differences of 100s of calories in pretty much the same meal just by "tweaking it' a bit.

You can do it if you don't eat + drink too much on weekends out.

There are lots of calories in alcohol.

I don't think 12 stone is massively overweight for 5'6'' by the way

I am sure you could still get a decent weight loss if you keep to your diet during the week eating out choose the healthy options and drop or cut down the booze full of empty calories
Or how about the 5: 2 diet a friend of mine has had a good weight loss on this

You might not lose, but you can definitely maintain 12 stone if you watch what you eat and get some exercise during the week. Then you can worry about losing in the New Year.

Do you need to drink when you go out? Nights out on tap water are excellent for both your waist and your wallet!

Well I do like to drink when I go out although nowadays I do see the value in not getting completely hammered, having a relatively early night and being a little less hungover the next day!

Low cab has worked for me before so that is how I will continue I think. I like the advice of When in being good, be an angel! That's definitely a good mantra to bear in mind. Grin

I do feel very overweight; I'm 14-16 top and bottom but bizarrely a 12 in for and flare dresses as I have a relatively slimmer torso! Most annoying!

Yes, you can, it's how I always lose weight - angelic M-Thurs and then relax over the weekend. It works for me.

I have two fast days and two "good" days. No refined carbs whatsoever, no booze, and I try to go for a good long walk each day and two swims.

I don't calorie watch Sat/Sun. I average it out over 7 days.
