I'm not really over weight but very over wobbly. Anyone got any good inner thigh, bum and tum exercises which do miracles and won't kill me?

But do you know when you go tot he beach everyone looks like that! no one looks perfect!

w e go once a week att he moment and I cant tellyouthe best women ar ethe ones who dont care!

Blu · 07/06/2004 12:03

I agree! We were on hol in Spain a couple of weeks ago, and I was being really touchy about appearing in swimming togs on the beach, until I noticed all the relaxed blissed out older ladies letting it all hang out. If you're really self-conscious, put your body in the sun (it always looks a bit better for a bit of a tan anyway) and cover your face Greta garbo style, so that no-body knows it's you!

codswallop · 07/06/2004 12:04

Horrya blu - I htink we engliush agonise abut it to much

and if ther body is great their face is like the back end of a bus

I could do with some tips for wobbly arse, wobbly thigh syndrome. I've started swimming a couple of times a week but so far it seems (as far as I can see) that the only effect has been to turn my previously nice slender upper arms into pro-swimmer style lumpen things!

TBH Coddy if I looked like some of the women I'd lose the will to live (and my DH). Agree that a tan would help things but my body is NASTY right now.

OK: Inner thigh: Lie on back and put your legs straight up in the air. Put the soles of your feet as much together as they will go. Slowly bend your knees down and out...like a frog, keeping soles together, and then push them up again.
Bum: half squats: feet a bit more than hip width aparet. Slowly squat (back straight), but don't go too deep esp if you have dodgy knees, ypuor thighs at 45' is good enough, and slowly push back up really using those Glutus Maximii. Whan standing in a queue or at bus stop pick one leg up, and with a slightly bent knee 'pulse' the leg back and up so that you can feel one side of your bum tightening.
Tum: it has to be sit ups! keep your knees bent, either feet flat on floor, or cross your ankles and bring your knees up a little way as you bring your chest up. Keep looking at the ceiling, don't tuck your chin in. And if you can breathe in through your nose as you go down, and out through your mouth as you go up.

Blu · 07/06/2004 13:34

Quads (front thigh muscle): sit on floor with back supported (against front of sofa, for e.g) put both legs out straight in front. Lift one leg at a time straight up from the floor a foot or so, and lower.

isnt cycling and walking supposed to be good for toning legs?

albert · 07/06/2004 13:36

Thanks Blu, must say I prefer your Garbo idea but I think the exercises might be a good start. Will have to find a decent fake tan though, I'm quite fair and don't tan - any suggestions for one that won't turn me into a zebra?

I don't look like, I'm the bleached whale in person! I have tried to get more excersice which has helped in a way but also has given me a lot of excuses and good reasons for eating more, I'm a lost case, I'm praying for the return of Victorian style swimming suits!

Demented · 07/06/2004 15:26

BodyPump?

shopaholic · 07/06/2004 15:29

albert - fake tan I use is clarins body milk. very good on fair skin like ours. to prevent streaks rub lightly over it with a towelling mit when applied as this makes for aen even finish. never apply when drunk or tired!

albert · 08/06/2004 08:46

Thanks Shopaholic (great name) I'm back in the office now hence back on MN. Will check out the Clarins thing - not too sure if I'll ever use it though since you don't recommend using it when tired!!
Demented, sorry, what is body pump?
