We ALL need some motivation at some stage so please share what gets you through the temptations and bad times!!!

I am weak and find it hard in the evenings after being good all day - any tips?

I just started following an actual diet for the first time in my life (slimming world). for someone who doesnt know how these things work i found it great, as it allows you 'sins' and if i fall off the wagon one day i can make it up they next so i dont get that hopeless feeling of shame and misery if i mess up, which just makes me feel like i may as well overeat anyway. It also means i eat alot more than normal, which is amazing; i thought i'd have to starve but its works through food combining so i never go hungry. I also dont go to the meetings as i never have time but it helps me having structure. Good luck with it, i hope it works out for you.

Stand in front of a mirror bollock naked, and jump up and down!!

I too am a terrible evening snacker - can be really motivated all day but willpower goes out of the window come 9pm. My tips for avoiding this are:

  1. Find your optimum time for an evening meal - too early and you'll be starving by 9, too late and you'll snack at 5pm instead.
  2. When you go shopping choose some low-ish calorie snacks specifically for having in the evening in front of the tv - i.e. skinny cow ice lollies, low-cal jelly, one funsize choccie bar, a nice yogurt. That way you'll look forward to it and not feel guilty if you've already allowed for it in your eating plan.
  3. If all else fails have a long hot soak in the bath then get into bed with a book/magazine - if you're away from the kitchen you're away from temptation!

What worked for me was visualising the figure that I wanted. Also, I have a picture of this woman from the 1980s who won the Miss Fitness Championships. She has an atheletic physique, is very fit and very healthy. That is what I aspire to be and looking at that picture helps to keep me focus.

The other important thing for me is that I do not want to be unhealthy. I want to be fit, energised and live life to the full. I know that only I can do something about it and that is why I lost 4.5 stones with WW that I put on with my DTS.

Now I run, go the gym, exercise to DVDs, walk a lot and have a healthy diet that makes allowances for my weekly naughty nibbles. I'm doing it for my well being and that, for me, is a powerful motivator.

I find going to the gym/doing a DVD mid evening prevents snacking. Don't do it before because we eat about 6 ish. Then don't feel the need just after exercising.
