I know there's a board for this but it's quiet. Have just started a low cal diet...about 1200 a day. Wondering if others have experience of this and how successful they've been.
Cheers

No, I never calorie count - I find it tedious and just makes me obsess about food more IYSWIM.
But then again, I also cannot be arsed to follow any kind of point system
I have lost 3+ st in the last year with a combination of eating less carbs, more protein and fat, eating real food and a little intermittent fasting (16:8). I have never felt like I was 'on a diet', I feel really well and I don't see myself changing the way I eat.
So many different ways to lose weight - whatever works

I've been doing 1200 calories a day for about 5 weeks and have lost a stone. I track through mfp and it seems to work for me. We are rethinking the way we eat, I now have porridge or a poached egg on toast for breakfast, salad with crisps (quavers or French fries) for lunch then some form of protein, steamed veg and tiny amount of carbs for tea. We're finding this is sustainable. This week I've been out on a wine tasting evening (didn't track that evening...) and then out to a restaurant on another day and still lost 3lbs!

I'm on 1500 calories doing mfp. I like to count calories as it helps ensure that I eat 3 meals a day with a nice snack or alcohol at the weekend.
I've lost 3lbs in 2 weeks and that's with a couple of parties thrown in. So not massive weight loss but lots of calories to enjoy and very realistic day to day.
I tried 1200 unsuccessfully as it was too restrictive and didn't allow for any extras like a beer. I figure I'd rather have the 1500 but not use them all every day if it's not necessary.
Good luck!

Thank you. I have an Exante shake for lunch which is 200 cals and belvitas for breakfast 228 and have had a chocolate bar every evening (and tea!)
Seems to be do-able!

I like to have three tasty meals a day; I won't stick to it if I don't!

Yep. I've dropped from 16 st 12 all the way to 9 st 12, in just under a year, never eating less than 1400kcal per day. I use nutracheck.

Stunning weight loss!

That's brilliant Mr Aly! I've lost 9lbs in 2 weeks, it's the best "diet" I've done
