Has anyone come across a site called weightlossresources.co.uk? (sorry, can't do links) Basically, you input details of everything you eat and drink each day from a huge database, plus a few other details such as height, weight etc, then the programme gives you a complete breakdown of calories, fat, carbs, protein, fibre etc. Its really good just as a calorie counter if nothing else. Also gives number of cals you burn doing various exercise like walking for 20 mins etc. I have become fascinated with it!!

I discovered that yesterday, almost a third of my calorie intake came from white wine

You have to register and its only free for 3 days but I've used it on and off for a month or so and it still lets me log on and register without having to pay anything!

Have just checked a Cadbury's flake egg - about 1000 cals and over 50 g of fat

Carrot stick anyone

I've signed up to this site after doing the 3-day trial, and it's fab. Logging everything is really keeping me on the straight and narrow, and I think calorie counting is the only thing that's going to work for me. They also send you a booklet full of motivating stuff, plus jotters so that you can put your food and exercise down it in through the day. I think for £9.50 a month it's actually very good value. You're encouraged to let them know how you're doing and there's loads of info on the website. Well worth a try if you (like me) have tried every other diet ever!

Thanks for the information about the site, oxocube.

I've registered for the trial and have put in everything I've eaten today - what an eye-opener!!! Almost a third of my calories have been from crisps and biscuits, I'd not realised how much I'd nibbled throughout the day until I'd written it all down. Unfortunately I've had more calories than I need today just to maintain my current weight (by about 130), so I suppose I'd better skip the glass of wine I was thinking of having! It's a fascinating site, isn't it?

well like I said, Callielou, it was a bit of a shock to find that a third of my calories were wine . I just find all this stuff fascinating and incredibly informative ie detailing how many calories you lose by walking fast for 20 minutes. It seems to be one of the more sensible weight loss sites. Its nice to know that others find it useful

Try sparkpeople.com too. Its American but free and very good.
There was another one I checked out too which was free but I can't remember the name.
I'll post back if it comes to me.
