I am doing Carol Vorderman's 28 day detox, and have lost 5lbs in the first week. Might be worth a go - esp if you're exercising too

the smoothie diet

just conciously try to eat more protien and less carbohydrate - try to cut down to v low amounts of bread, pasta, that sort of thing, but increase meat, fish, pulses, lots of veg etc... dont go hungry fgs, or you wont stick to it.

just cutting down on bread and pasta alone is quite difficult in reality - esp for food on the go (its all sandwiches!) but should show results pretty quickly.

dont cut them out coz you'll need the energy!

and try to consume bigger breakfasts and lunches, and smaller suppers (think about when you are going to be burning the energy youre eating!)

Same principle as NappiesGalore - you follow the plan for 28 days. Idea is to improve health and 'detox' rather than lose weight, but I'm doing it as my sis lost a stone on it last year.

You cut out all wheat, dairy, meat & fish, tea, coffee & alcohol, and your meals are made up of fruit, veg, pulses, brown rice and wheat free pasta. A typical day is porridge for breakfast (made with dairy free milk!), soup for lunch and casserole or pasta for supper. You can eat unlimited fruit and veg as snacks, as well as stuff like hummus and guacamole on rice cakes and ryvita.

dairy free milk??? i dread to think....

PoppiesMum · 10/01/2007 18:59

Yep...on it's own tastes like s**t, but in porridge is actually not bad.

NappiesGalore · 10/01/2007 19:05

fair enough!

my way is easier than learning all that though...

(caveat: OBViously you dont eat fatty/fried/fast/conveneince food much and generally stick to fresh, wholesome, basic, home made food.. if you do that anyway, then doing as i said forst, will help you lose weight quite quickly. then when youre ach that weight, you just increase the carbs again, slowly, but basically stick to the same routine/habits...)

NappiesGalore · 10/01/2007 19:05

diet is about lifestyle of course, not short term fads...
