Mumsnet Mamas Week 21

MadameButterfly · 22/05/2004 06:01

Morning everyone.

I have just worked out that if I keep up my average weight loss of 2lbs per week, I will have lost 2 stone by the time I go on holiday. That is only 7lbs off my target.

If that is not motivation to keep going, then I don't know what is.

(((hugs to you lunarsea)))

I'm off to weigh myself now - eeek!

juniper68 · 27/05/2004 09:57

Did it

LunarSea · 27/05/2004 10:05

Things not looking quite so bad today.

DH has apologised (sort of) and said that he thought I was only doing it as an excuse to have some new clothes. When I told him that if I didn't do it I'd need some new ones anyway - but bigger - and if he'd let me stick to it I'd still fit into the ones I've got he backed off. Hopefully it won't be too long before some new - smaller - ones are needed anyway, but it least he's now, if not exactly supportive, not in sabotage mode any more.

Oh and on the work front I pointed out that the new system was illegal as it meant I could never take a break and they have now agreed that I can get someone from another team to at least acknowledge, but not action, my calls if I needed a break (said they hadn't thought of the implications for me as a team of 1).

And am in the loo-less office today and managed to summon up the courage to raise the subject of ladies loos with the male boss here. First suggestion was go out at lunchtime to a cafe or something. So I'd have to buy a coffee in order to go to the loo? Yes. Would they pay expenses for it? No. Would I be allowed the time to go out to find a loo if I needed to during the day? No. What would happen next time they had a vacancy and had a woman apply for it? They'd choose a man. Can't believe he said it out loud, but it's probably true as that office of about 40 people is all male. Have just found some info from the HSE which will back up my case, but suspect that if I push it I will just end up not being expected to go there any more, which wouldn't bother me except that it will probably mean I get a bad review - so no payrise, again - on the basis of being uncooperative. Don't think I'm going to win this one somehow.

juniper68 · 27/05/2004 10:08

OMG lunarsea, what century are these guys living in??? Please don't let them win this. I know it must be hard but try to be strong.

I can't wait to tell my lawyer hubby about this, he's very pro equal opportunities.

glad to hear DH is being better behaved though

DelGirl · 27/05/2004 16:32

Hi all.

Can I join you please? I'm going to go to Slimming World tonight...omg. I have lost count of the number of times i've started a diet this past year and failed miserably. The only plus side is i'm no fatter than I was a year ago but just seem to lose 3/4 pounds then give up. I'm hopeless. Have done slimming world a few times now and probably lost about 10 stone in all!!! I mean, I lost a couple of stone and then it goes back on. I gave up smoking 4 years ago and put on 3 stone and haven't been able to shift it since, with all the comfort eating I've done. HELP!!!! Do I need to email you with my weight etc Demented? I'm hoping to start yet another round of IUI in about 3 weeks so I'm hoping to shift at least half a stone by then. I have to say my hearts not really in it but if I go to SW and get weighed in and also have your' support maybe I can do it this time.

gothicmama · 27/05/2004 19:32

you can do it delgirl - this is really supportive

Demented · 27/05/2004 23:01

Lunarsea, glad to hear your DH is being a bit more supportive, men and their wallets! Not so good on the work front though, hope that improves for you.

Delgirl, welcome on board! If you mail me at mn.bigmamas(at)virgin(dot)net with your starting weight, target weight (if any), then mail me every Thursday with your loss and I'll add you to the spreadsheet. Between us we aim to offer support and motivation. Look forward to receiving your mail and all the best for the next few weeks!

MadameButterfly · 28/05/2004 06:53

Well done everyone!!! Looks like for the most part it has been a very good week in the land of MN Mamas, we've lost nearly a stone and half between us! Fantastic!!!

Congratulations to Applepie and Lunarsea on losing their first stone! Also congratulations to Bunnyrabbit on losing her first half stone! Well done!!!

Well done to those who met personal goals this week. I've met one of my own this week which was to be within my healthy weight range and I am thrilled to be 11st 5lbs this week. I was dancing round my bedroom when I stepped off the scales on Thursday morning.

Hulababy, if you are having trouble mailing me it has just occurred to me that it may be a good idea for you to try my personal e-mail address. I will see if I still have your e-mail address and send you my personal address for you to try.

Hoping everyone who hasn't been in touch is OK and just having too much fun!

gothicmama · 28/05/2004 20:40

Sorry demeneted. Had really busy past few days and was out most of yesterday. So forget to weigh and e-mail;. I'll join in again next week promise!

Well done everyone

applepie · 29/05/2004 10:39

oooh, thanks for the ecard - I think I've undone a bit (again) after last night - was round at a friends having a 'last Friends' night in with lots of wine & nibbles and now got the hangover munchies. However, I've got back into my swimming and that seems to be working for me at the moment as I'm not so good with the dieting side of things.

Well done everyone - a great week.

Demented · 29/05/2004 13:19

No problem Hula, glad you are OK. All the best for this week!
