Part 4 Already! Thought I'd get things started before the old thread got full! Will be posting in a sec to see what my weight was at the beginning and end of the old thread

Thanks, yes I'm dreading the food side of things alright. Constant rounds of tea with biscuits, bread, and big meat/potato dinners smothered in gravy (to make things worse I hate food smothered in gravy and its full of calories which I have to choke down!).

I'll try and up the exercise and offer to cook a day or two.

To be honest it's not just the food but the constant comments on my weight loss I hate, makes me feel like I was unimaginably large before and I know I still have a way to go. Of course that's my issue not theirs but I need to prepare for it!

Sugarandsalt · 28/07/2016 08:24

Well done Hopefully! I can't wait to be around your weight (will have me in a healthy BMI range (I think anything under 10st12). I weigh most days too, means the little ups and downs worry me less (often changes 2/3lbs quite suddenly) and I see trends with periods etc.

MsColouring · 28/07/2016 09:50

Welcome Shark. I found I was hungry when I first started but I got used to 1200 calories a day once I got into a routine. Protein will help to fill you up.

So I finished work last week and my leaving present was a Fitbit which was awesome! Managed to clock up my 10000 steps most days, more when I run. Had my birthday at the weekend which involved a bbq - so lots of fizz drinking, bbq food and cheesecake but back on it during the week. This weekend we have a wedding to go to and then next week we are off to Devon for the week and I'm not sure I can resist the clotted cream fir a whole week.

I am kind of trying to work out where to stop now. I am 9st 9lb and am back in my size 12 jeans and size 10 tops. I originally set 9st as my target weight but getting back in size 12 jeans was my main aim. Think I would like to lose about another 4-5lbs and then continue calorie counting to maintain.

SharkSkinThing · 28/07/2016 12:17

Thanks for all the tips and support. I am working from home today, which has been really hard!

Every time I want to stick my hand in the fridge and go and do 60 seconds skipping in the garden!

Hopefully · 28/07/2016 14:38

Shark fridge dipping while working from home/at home with DCs is the bane of my life!

MsColouring I live in Devon in a touristy town - imagine resisting the cream teas every day!

Sugarandsalt · 28/07/2016 14:47

Shark I find chopped veg and grapes etc are the best for dipping into when at home! Or kale crisps. I can't work from home, but on my maternity leave I was constantly eating which is how I got to the size I did!

SesameSparkle · 29/07/2016 08:47

shark hi there, I totally get where you're coming from with opening the fridge when working from home. That's my downfall. I have no answers really except to try and eat filling meals and have plenty of hot drinks.

hopefully well done on getting back where you were. And I find the good thing about pre-period bloat is the possibility of getting rewarded with another pound or two loss once the bloat goes away.

sugar thanks. Hooray for non scale victories - fitting into clothes that didn't fit before feels great. For your trip, perhaps if taking over the cooking is one step too far you could at least try to plate up your own food? That way you could control your portions and the amount of carbs etc going onto your plate.

mscolouring hello. It's interesting to hear someone else trying to figure out when to stop. Fitting back into size 12 jeans is a great achievement and I think feeling confident in the way you look is much more important than the number on the scales. There's also something about being able to balance a diet across the week to fit in the birthdays and all the other treats. That's what I'm hoping to be able to do in the long run

I'm also trying to get used to my new figure and how to dress it. There's not much in my wardrobe that fits very well anymore so I've been trying to pick up a few bits and pieces. The biggest change for me is that my apple shaped waist has finally dropped a couple of inches and that totally changes the way clothes look on me. Meanwhile I've been away for a few days and back home tomorrow night. I've exceeded my calories on 3 days but had a really good day yesterday with a 5k run. Next weigh in will be Sunday morning so I'll see what's happening then.

shortaris1 · 29/07/2016 22:17

Sounds like there's lots of good stuff going on!

Ive managed my fasts really well this week and also exercised at least once a day so hoping for a good loss. Bit over today but will do a mini fast on Sunday to make up.

Sugar that sounds tough. No advice but I'd struggle to eat like that too!

Sugarandsalt · 30/07/2016 14:10

Well I finished work for a month with a bang- went for drinks with colleagues. Skipped dinner, had several glasses of wine then came home and had 2 lovely bread rolls and cheese. So yesterday a write off! Back on track today.

Hopefully · 31/07/2016 08:04

Had a total cheat day yesterday (met up with friends we haven't seen for years for tea and cake, then went to a family party with dinner and many puddings) and AF has arrived, so am relieved I'm away from home and unable to stand on the scales today!

Was idly thinking about my weight goals this morning. I have decided that rather than a specific weight, I want to feel confident, rather than just OKish, in a bikini (we live near the coast, spend a lot of time at the beach, so it crops up a lot!). I have a flat(ish) stomach, but carry my weight on my thighs, so it's always the last bit I feel OK about baring. I imagine that will be somewhere around 9st 7lb, but might be a bit higher or lower. Have never been below 9st 3lb as an adult, and I think I looked a bit too slim then (I'm 5'6", but have a fairly broad frame), so I can't imagine I'll want to get down to 9st.

Fitterbysixty · 31/07/2016 09:03

I have no idea what my target weight is, the one period in my life where I wasn't overweight I didn't own any scales so although I know I was a size 12 I don't know what weight that was. I doubt that I'll get back there, I'm thirty years older, have a baby belly and my boobs are no longer fried egg sized. I'm starting with aiming for my 2004 weight, I thought that I looked good then and I felt good too. Once I'm there (2 stones to go) I plan to take a couple of months to stabilise as the new me and then decide whether to take the NHS advice on what is a healthy weight and lose a bit more.

SesameSparkle · 31/07/2016 22:37

short well done on the fasts, fingers crossed you get the results you are looking for. When is your next weigh in?

sugar hope you at least you had a good time Friday night? Did you manage to get back on it over the weekend?

hopefully I'm resigned to never looking good in a bikini - I have a little stretched out skin on my belly and inner thighs, left over from losing over 4st, and think as I lose more weight it will start to look like embarrassing bodies more obvious. So I'm happy to settle for looking good with my clothes on....

I'm actually pretty happy with where I've got to so far. I bought a few nice bits whilst away over the last few days and it's really nice to have a lot more choice when I'm out shopping. I bought some skinny jeans out of topshop of all places - it appears I'm now a size 14 in there and considering I've never been able to buy anything other than accessories from them my entire adult life, I was pretty pleased. And in all the more age appropriate stores I'm now getting into a nice vanity sized 12. I also picked up some belts to pull in some of the waists on my now baggy work dresses.

fitter that means I'm probably now at the point where I think I could quite happily stabilise, but I'm now also only 3-4lb away from reaching that artificial NHS 'normal weight' band width, which does seem to be an incentive to carry on just a little bit further.

Weigh in this morning actually shows I'm still on 10st 9lb - which I reached six days ago. So after all that no change at all, which reflects some of the extra treats I've been having whilst away. But I'm still hopeful I might manage another pound off within the next few days as I go back to routine.

shortaris1 · 01/08/2016 08:09

Sesame at least you haven't gained.

Just weighed in and lost 2lb of the 3lb I put on last week. Food hasn't been great but did do my 2 fasts and exercised loads; 3 weights sessions, 2 HIIT sessions and 3 classes. Main thing is ive bought new bikinis that look good so not in such a panic now. I'd still love to lose another 4lb before I go mind!

MustBeThin · 01/08/2016 10:59

Just a quick update, not had time to catch up properly but welcome newbies and well done on the losses.

Scales are showing 10st 9 this morning Grin got down to 10st 10 a week ago but since then I've fluctuated between 10st 10-11 but it is TOTM. I forgot to weigh yesterday before I showered so today was a nice surprise.

I'm 2lb away from my 3st loss 😁💪

Sugarandsalt · 01/08/2016 15:44

I'm back to the weight I was 2 weeks ago. That's 1.5lbs loss. Happy. Got some new jeans in a size 12- very happy!

shortaris1 · 02/08/2016 08:11

Nearly 3 stone off Must, that's amazing!

And well done on your size 12's Sugar Mind and get rid of your bigger clothes now, you're not going back there!

BitOutOfPractice · 02/08/2016 09:06

Morning and well done must

I am down 1.5lbs this week. Amazing considering the weekend I had Blush

That's 18.5lbs total and 1.5% off my 10%

BitOutOfPractice · 02/08/2016 09:07

1.5 lbs off my 10% fgs!

SesameSparkle · 02/08/2016 13:54

must nice work!

sugar yay for size 12 jeans!

bit 10% is a really big deal, well done!

The scales finally hit 10st 8lb this morning, so that’s another 1lb off over the last 8 days, making my total loss now 1st 10lb. It’s slow and steady over here, but I’m pleased that I’m still getting results. And mfp gave me one of those congratulations pages with the streamers on when I entered my weight too. Grin

Sugarandsalt · 02/08/2016 14:53

Thanks! I'm delighted- they are very fashionable ankle length cigarette jeans from whistles which I am not fashionable to wear for sure! I've been a bit down about my appearance- lost nearly 4 stone but need to lose another 1.5 so at the moment all my clothes look terrible as nothing fits. Have an hourglass shape too, so I feel I know how to dress for work but am useless at day to day wear.

Well done to you all! Sesame I didn't know you got congrats from MFP- is it a goal weight or a BMI thing I wonder?

SesameSparkle · 02/08/2016 16:46

sugar that's a definite win. Maybe it would help you to buy a few more bits and pieces to help you feel better about the way you look? If you choose carefully, you might be able to get them taken in once you get a little smaller. I know what you mean about having to learn to dress for a new shape. I used to think I could just go into the same stores and buy the same stuff I used to wear just in a smaller size, but that didn't work at all as those styles ended up swamping my smaller figure. So I've really had to start from scratch in getting to know what brands and styles suit me.

Yes, mfp (at least on my phone) gives you a congrats fanfare type page now and again. It's based on achieving a percent of your goal weight. But my initial goal was a relatively modest loss and since I've overtaken it I'm getting fanfares all the time. Grin

MFP to lose weight - Part 4
Sugarandsalt · 02/08/2016 19:26

Ah sesame that looks familiar actually.
My shape hasn't changed hugely, just smaller than 6 months ago. And with a flabbier tummy than before baby!

Before I had DD I fluctuated between a 10-14, almost always a 12 though. I generally wore dresses/skirts, and always erred on the formal side as anything casual/draped/loose just looks like pyjamas on me. But now I spend my time off chasing a 2 year old I want proper casual clothes. I think I might need a personal shopper!

shortaris1 · 02/08/2016 20:31

Ah Sugar I used to work in retail and I have done styling for a lady who had lost a huge amount of weight. She promised to go wherever I took her and we got her kitted out but she said the same.

I'm an hourglass too and you do have to dress a bit smarter than other folk so you don't look drowned, or worse, square. I've got an old Trinny and Susannah book and they talk about this. Scoop neck t shirts are good as is anything fitted t shirt wise. I wear high waisted jeans ( M and S jeggings) to keep the tum in with a nice tee shirt and anything that goes in then out can show off the waist.

I don't have any kids though so no idea about very casual, I tend to steer clear as I just look lumpy and it's not me! Feel free to pm me a pic if you like and I can suggest some things. No worries if you don't want to though, I know I'm a random!

Fast day tomorrow but all organised. Got Warburtons Thins with Turkey slices for lunch and a yoghurt then sea bass with veg for tea.

Sugarandsalt · 02/08/2016 23:20

Thanks short I may do that! Used to tuck tops into jeans/trousers alright but my flabby post c-section tummy doesn't look good enough now!

Heading home for 3 weeks, so aiming to maintain weight. New job and new start when I return!

Hopefully · 03/08/2016 05:46

I want MFP confetti!

I am still holding onto AF weight. At least, I hope I am! It normally starts to disappear by this stage and it doesn't appear to be yet. This is exactly what happened last month, and I will be mighty pissed off if I spend most of this month losing the same 2lb I fought to lose last month and the month before. Going to be totally strict on calories and drinking enough water/exercising well for the next few days and hopefully it will settle down quickly.

In brighter news, I was looking through my weight since the start of the year and realised I have been lighter on the 1st of each month than I was the previous one, even if it's only been 0.2lb at times. I suppose as long as the trend is (fractionally) downwards I shouldn't be too bitter.
