Do the scales ever lie?

I sure hope so, otherwise I've put on about 5 lbs in the last 3 weeks. We have had the bathroom floor changed from wooden flooring to slate tiles, and I'm hoping that is why there is a difference.

My clothes don't feel that much tighter, but I could be wrong..

Yup, I'd put money on it that is the floor. The flex in your wooden floor would have absorbed some of the force from your scales, so they registered a lower weight. The good news is, you probably haven't gained 5lbs in the last three weeks! The bad news is that you probably weighed that much more all along. :-|
