I need to lose 3.5 stone - feel so fed up about it I am ignoring the mince pies and Thornton's chocolates! I have lost weight before with a great bunch of ladies on mn. I feel motivated to do the same again and this time keep it off, I went through my wardrobe and found a very stylish tunic I bought in the South of France that I wore once before gaining weight.

Whatever your approach - low carb, Weight Watchers, Slimmers World or healthy eating, all welcome to join me with motivational tips/chat to keep each other going. I find that I don't stick to any plan and eating at meals times/snack on veg and fruit/exercise works for me.

Look forward to chatting with whoever wants to join Smile

Hi, welcome new people, and well done to the losers!

I'm a bit embarrassed to show my face on this thread, tbh; due to issues with some medication I'm on, and general stress and tiredness, I have really not been trying AT ALL in the last few weeks to eat healthily. I weighed myself this morning (normally a Friday weigher but couldn't face it then) and I actually weigh more than I did a month ago. Shock Blush

So I'm starting again from the beginning. I'm keeping a food diary for a month, to see whether how I think I eat is even remotely how I really eat, and I have drawn up a few rules to follow, mostly around portion sizes, fluid and alcohol intake, and snacking. I'm not being too restrictive about what foods I eat, just trying to be sensible about saturated fat, salt, processed foods etc. Also, I have decided to give up chocolate and sweets for Lent, just to break some bad habits I have been struggling with. After Lent, I will only have a small 'sweets allowance' per week, to get back into the mindset of it being a treat. I used to be able to go for days without any sugar apart from fruit and yogurt, and it not bother me apart from the odd craving which I ignored, but I really struggle to last a day without chocolate or cake at the moment. The only thing I will give up permanently is fizzy drinks; again, I used to have the odd one, and was starting to dislike them a little because they are so sweet, but my tolerance for sugar has become much higher lately, and I crave it most of the time now.

TL;DR: Been rubbish, back now, less rubbish in future hopefully Grin

Well done Rather, sounds like a really good class if you're not feeling it in your legs today.

Error I gave up processed food and added sugar and that's it. I haven't done anything else, I just eat normal food. I do watch portion sizes and don't snack or have cheat days. It's ok once you get into it, the first few days are always the hardest.

I've been a tiny bit hungry now and again but I just think that's ok. We're supposed to feel hungry before a meal aren't we? I think we forget that sometimes.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 08/02/2016 07:34

Funny thing was, I got stiffer as the day wore on!

Error Baby steps lovely, we all do what we can do. remember the being kind post?

Is it Pancake day tomorrow? Last year as in every other year DS announces he will give up homework for lent Grin

I'm going to give up gin.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 08/02/2016 07:34

*all the lols, not.

GettinTrimmer · 08/02/2016 07:35

Brilliant Piste on the spinning, you would have burnt off oodles of calories.

error we're all in it together Smile I remember a few years ago Pistey used to talk about being in it for the long haul, and with so much on your plate other things can take a back seat. I like the idea of not cutting anything out (apart from lent), I cut myself a piece of dd's chocolate cake which is thankfully nearly gone, then cut it in half again. I was actually happy with having that, but failed on not woofing up her left over roast potatoes! Overall I've cut down on the Sunday evening roast and pud.

I agree Fairenuff we have to get used to being a little hungry between meals here and there, it's a habit to grab hold of something to eat as soon as it happens, all about resetting habits, can be done.

If there's anybody out there on our list, come back to us if you want, we're here for motivation, tips and support, don't worry about any falling of the wagon, it happens, was talking to a friend about finding the mojo again...it can be done Smile

GettinTrimmer · 08/02/2016 07:37

Haha! just read that back, sounds like I'm suggesting cutting lent out error what I meant was, after lent I like the idea of not eliminating anything, but cutting down not cutting out.

Mummyme87 · 08/02/2016 09:24

I joined slimming world about 4weeks ago, I have my 4th weigh in on Wednesday. I have about 5 1/2stone to lose and so far lost 7.5lb.
Still making the odd few poor decisions regarding food but generally a lot better.
I had a baby 19mk this ago and had a BMI of 32, pre slimming world was about 35. My gp was looking at changing my contraceptive pill as my BMI was too high, I had my gall bladder removed recently, I have fatty liver and would like to think about another baby at the end of the year. For my health I need to lose weight and I don't want to have another baby this size. The risks in pregnancy of being this size are huge, I can't risk it.

So I'm on the wagon. Well done everyone so far!!

Mummyme87 · 08/02/2016 09:25

That should have read 19months ago

Error404usernamenotfound · 08/02/2016 11:22

Thanks for the support, all! You're all so lovely, I wish I knew you irl Smile

Trimmer, I know exactly what you meant, although I might quite like the idea of giving up lent after a week or so of no sweets...

I completely agree about letting yourself get a bit hungry; I have certainly forgotten how to wait for food, if it's approaching mealtime and I'm feeling a little peckish. It's so easy just to grab a bit of something tasty, but it rarely means you eat proportionately fewer calories at the next meal.

Mummyme87, well done on your losses so far!

Gin for lent? give up? NOOOOOOOOO

GettinTrimmer · 09/02/2016 10:23

I don't do lent, so I don't have to give up roast spuds but have given up Biscuit some things easier than others!

My day off today, and house is a tip yet again - this is how I stopped doing exercise, inbetween taking dd here and there for sport, work and housework I got too sedentary and snacked too much, life just overtakes and again I need to make exercise part of life. So I am doing the 30 day shred in a bit and have to walk into town. Leaving car at home, half an hour there, then half an hour back to walk.

I need a running partner, as I am getting fitter but not going on the road. Race 5K fairly soon

Mummyme87 welcome, stick with us Smile very well done on reducing your BMI, mine was 32 something, now 31 ish.

Downstairs I am very much enjoying the lean in 15 book, I like his recipe for pizza made with a fajita with an egg in the middle, cottage pie I can do one with quorn one with meat. I've been watching his utube videos, mainly for eye candy...

FluffyPersian · 09/02/2016 10:44

Welcome Mummyme87 Welcome! Grin

Error I've lost count of the number of times I've tried to lose weight and get so demotivated when I don't or 'slip up', I think half the battle is not giving up and working out what works for you - No judgement here, I bet you can do it Smile

Downstairs I had some Prosecco on Saturday as I celebrated moving house with my partner... The calories per glass were better than I thought! 85, I believe.

I'm doing pretty well at the moment, I think - Mostly because I'm so busy moving things from old house to new house.... At the weekend, we were doing house things (painting, putting pictures up, packing and unpacking, putting blinds and shelves up etc) from 8am to 11pm both days and I just didn't even think about food - Same with this week, I go to work, come home.. eat and then continue with stuff, so I'm just not left to 'think' about food, which I've come to realise is a massive thing.

I'm going to weigh myself on Sunday (Well, I'll jump on the scales) and my partner will say whether I've lost more weight from 31st Jan.. I think I have as I've been really 'good' about stuff, but I guess I'll see what he says!

All my dinners at the moment are steamed veg, steamed potatoes and either chicken, salmon... I'm a bit bored of them but don't have any head space to plan anything else Sad... I am going to try and find something healthy that's easy to make and keeps me interested!

MABS · 09/02/2016 13:30

well done on losses, i am being crap :(

Error404usernamenotfound · 09/02/2016 14:31

MABS, you are not being crap. Is there anything we can help with?

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/02/2016 15:19

error me too. I can't get in the mode

And today eaten tons of crap for DF birthday :(

mabs what's up?

Well done everyone else x

Bringonsummer · 09/02/2016 15:58

My work appears to have calmed down again, but charging all around the bloody country for day trips, being stressed up to the eyeballs talking about lots about stuff i am apparently an expert on (yet i am making up as a go along) has taken a toll on my waistline. You have to eat to get through the stress, 18hour days and boredom in the airport. So i have treated myself with a day of 'working from home'. To my credit the laptop is actually turned on and next to me as i inspect my eyelids in bed Grin. Needless to say i shall not be wi again. One wrong move on my scales will send me racing for the booze and chocolates in my delicate frame of mind. On a positive, i did also do the shred on Sun, the downside is i haven't been able to move since. I looked like a 90 year old granny trying to get in and out of my car yesterday, always a good look when trying to appear the epitome of professional whilst being blasted by 100mph winds! I will shut up again now.

MABS · 09/02/2016 16:01

so much work on which is good, just trying to get through it all before my hols next Monday. am going stay with my best friend and i know it will be alcohol fuelled time and will destroy any hard work that i have (haven't)done before !

Also can't get into the groove at the gym really. Ignore me gals :)

GettinTrimmer · 09/02/2016 19:20

Oh dear...too much garlic bread with my quorn spaghetti bolognese!

Your job sounds interesting Bringon but exhausting all the same. Well done on Shred, level 1, 2, or 3? Those push ups left my pectoral muscles very sore.

Mabs and Blondes diet mojos will come back Smile I know what it's like.

prettybird · 09/02/2016 23:27

I'm currently on Level 3 of the Shred.

I remember the first time I tried Level 3 of the Shred a few years ago I couldn't do the forearm plank press-ups (if that's what they're called) at all Shock. From the forearm plank up to the straight arm just didn't/couldn't/wouldn't happen and I had to change to doing it on my knees.

I was over the moon once I was able to do it "properly" even if my bum is still a bit high while I do it Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 10/02/2016 07:36

MABS lovely, don't be down. Look forward to your holiday, we go on Friday and there is no way I'm thinking diet when we are away, will come back and get on. Or what is the point? I'm not going to sit there at the top of a mountain updating MFP! B The same goes for you on your break. Enjoy it. None of this Sad shit when on hols!!

And re the gym MABS, could you try have personal trainer? Maybe to give you a plan then you check in with them once a week, once a fortnight?

We all know what its like to lose mojo, or we wouldn't be here, would we?

Tis Wednesday and I've forgotten to weigh in. What a tit. Might now leave until Friday morning as a departure point of reference.

Mummyme87 welcome Thanks

Summer Glad you had a day of peace. My DH travels bonkers levels, it is not a healthy lifestyle.

Fluff How's it all going with the new house?

Had better crack on, mad day ahead. Later Losers x

MABS · 10/02/2016 08:23

Thanks gals, when i get back from Oz I will try a personal trainer...again!!

I love your night out downstairs - just a small slip off the rails!

I think well done though and do not punish yourself for it. Unless you can have a few nights off or relax and enjoy the holiday it is ultimately not worth it. You will a) be resentful of healthy eating/dieting b) lose motivation and c) there must be enjoyment in life. All about moderation, i just need to accept moderation does not mean a chocolate bar and a few cocktails everday!

My work is interesting and believe it or not this is the new job woth no travel Confused. Problem is it is like a rollercoaster woth no warning, one minute panic stations the next thumb twiddling. Which means stress eating and boredom eating.

trimmer i am embarassed to say i am on level one session 1. Have only just regained movement to my arms. Will have another go tomorrow, if i am feeling brave Grin.

piste i am doubting your commitment, what do you mean you will not be updating mfp at the top of the mountain? I mean it is not as if there are views to take in, snow to carve, wine ladened lunches to eat, apres ski and tables to be danced on.... is it? God i miss skiing. I need my youngest to hurry up and get bigger then we will be off (ahhh, dreams of blue skies and white mountains)
