Is it?
I use a pedometer alot, and was on the 10,000 steps website yesterday, it is an Australian website, aimed at getting people to walk 10,000 steps a day.
Anyway I go to the gym and swim alot, and it said for swimming you can convert it to every 10 minutes spent in the pool = 100 steps.
So if the club is still going, I would love to join. I remember you all used to tally up your steps every Sunday, is this right?

MuckyAnthea - I hope that you mistyped 10 mins of swimming = 100 steps! Surely 1000?? I can do 1000 steps walking in 10 mins, give or take some.

I wasn't in the original club but have used a pedometer for a while. I'm sure some people have really cheap ones which work fine but mine all turned out to be quite useless so I treated myself to an Omron walking style II one (got it on Amazon). It is fab and records aerobic steps, approx cals and grams of fat burned, and distance in km. It also keeps a 7 day record. I have dropped it often, including in the loo, and it still works fine. It certainly does motivate me to get to at least 10K steps a day (I aim for 12K min now), although the past week or 2 have been grim - I blame Christmas! hth
