Anyone else doing, or has done, Exante ?

I have done VLCDs before with good results but this is my first time with Exante ( the one I used before is just too expensive! ). It's Day 2 and I am starving here, really hoping ketosis kicks in soon , usually day 3 or 4 for me. I know it's worth it but it's so hard! One unwanted side effect I am having though is an excess of ahem wind, I hope that settles soon or dh may leave me Grin. I ordered a mixed pack and there seems to be a good variety of meals, the one is used previously was much more limited and had smaller portions so thus far I am liking the Exante stuff
Anyone else doing it or has done it in the past? Any tips or advice? Ta; )

No one else? Grin
Day 3 and I am in ketosis, yay! Got a good strong colour on the strip so delighted , I am feeling much better now as well and not nearly as hungry. Doing 20 to 30 mins exercise each day to help, I didn't do any previous times so fingers crossed I get a really good loss at the end of the week.

I've tried Exante a few times and never managed to get very far because I like approximately 2% of their products and I never get into ketosis because they're so high in sugar Sad

Some people are just really carb sensitive. I started Slim and Save yesterday though, it's the closest thing I could find to Cambridge, which I really got on with but can't afford to keep up!

First weigh in today and I am 3.6kg down which is just over 8lbs I think, I am happy with that! I am finding it hard but am sticking to it, I am firmly in ketosis so it's working at least. Interesting about the sugar Helena I kinda just presumed all these vlcds were the same. So far I like most of the products bar a couple. Start of week 2 today so onwards and downwards Grin

I lost lots of weight in the run up to my wedding last year with Exante. It becomes a bit like a hobby trying to make the unpalatable palatable, but I don't like processed food generally so everything tasted a bit off to me.

It has crept back on (well most of it) so your thread might encourage me to buy a couple of weeks worth to give me a kick start before doing something more sustainable.

Marigold stock and Konjac noodles are your friend.

helenahandbag · 09/11/2015 12:09

Yeah, the carbs in Exante products are a minimum of 18g each, with some of them around 22g. When I did Atkins I was eating 20g of carbs a day total! 50g a day seems to be my threshold for ketosis so 3x 20g packs doesn't work for me Sad

Cambridge and Slim and Save are around 12g a product, so I can have either four packs or three with a low carb meal.

Well done on your loss, that's a brilliant start! I love VLCDs because of the fast results. I lost 9lbs in my first week on Cambridge and I loved the products (the choc mint shake was delicious!) but it's £46 a week!

TyrionLannistersShadow · 09/11/2015 13:35

Thanks! Yeah it's the fast results I like too, I wouldn't do it otherwise :). I wouldn't mind but I kept the weight off for ages but a combination of stress and laziness had me eating crap again for a few months and it goes on so much more easily than it comes off unfortunately! Aiming for 10 kg off with Exante and then moving on to SW.

That sounds like a good plan. I need to lose about 5st realistically, though 4st would be amazing. I'd like to lose 3 with Slim and Save before moving back to eating. I'm getting married in April though, so I'm hoping to just power ahead and lose as much as I can! Grin

TyrionLannistersShadow · 09/11/2015 22:22

I have resigned myself to the fact that I like food too much to ever be a size 10 again Grin I just want to be able to fit back into the nice stuff in my wardrobe! April is a long way away, you could absolutely lose 3 stone by then. Between baby 2 and 3 I lost 5 stone in 5 mths and have kept most of it off until now. It's definitely doable, just not easy.

Grin

I've never been a size 10 as an adult, I was a size 20-22 by the time I was 18 and I've slowly gotten down to a 16 over the years, so a 12-14 would be amazing! I have really disordered eating and I love food an embarrassing amount so even if I got to a size 10, I'd worry about how to maintain it!

TyrionLannistersShadow · 10/11/2015 11:20

I would be the same Helena, I know I couldn't maintain it either . I was a 10/ 12 only for a year or two around my wedding, that was it, I have fluctuated between a 14 at very best and 22 at biggest, but usually around a 16/18. I sometimes genuinely wonder why I am fat because I often see friends and family who eat more but stay slim and I don't know how they do it but I obviously eat more than I realise lol. I think though part of its that old cliché, my mother, she was a bit obsessed with her weight and mine when I was little. She put me on a diet at 9, I still remember the shame when she brought me to the doctor and she still talks about how she was 7st as a young woman and lived on cream cakes. I am determined not to do that with my own dd.

Mine put me on a diet at 12. She is obsessed with weight (having been 8st and 16st and everything in between, currently very overweight) and is utterly obsessed with "good" and "bad" food.

I know exactly why I'm fat - I've struggled with binges since I was about 16 and can regularly put away 5000+ calories on a really bad day. I'll actually go out specifically to buy a binge and sit down to systematically make my way through it Blush

Hello I have just started on th exante so we will see

CraftyGin · 16/01/2021 16:41

I did it last year for about 9 months.

I found it pretty easy - I have to take packed lunches to work, and this was ideal. It definitely held me to supper time.
