My natural weight has always been around 9st 3 to 9st 7, but have put on weight in the last few years due to a change in eating habits and stress. I have always loved my food and love cooking. I reached 11stone last October which shocked me into taking serious action after starting and failing so many diets. I reduced my food intake - eating smaller portions, reducing sugar and moving about more. This got me down to 10st 4 by April this year. After that I started to count the calories (1500 a day) and follow a more regimented exercise routine - cardiovascular and resistance work 3 days per week and pilates the other two days. I lost maybe 2 pounds over a month which wasn't quick enough for me so moved to an Atkins-type diet, eating mostly protein and low carb meals. This shifted a few pounds more quickly and I got to 9st 12 over the course of a month. However, lots of events came at the same time - weddings, big birthdays, trips away etc and I fell off the bandwagon. Now I'm in a position where I weigh about 10st. I eat mostly protein during the week, have not been exercising apart from a bit of walking and cycling, and drink a couple of times a week with a cheat day or two. This maintains my weight but I really want to shift the last 10 or so pounds - I'm so bored of thinking about it!! Having dieted before (5:2/juicing...you name it) I have always found myself stuck at 10st and that's when I usually lose faith. Another weight I get stuck at is 9 1/2 stone - although I wouldn't be complaining If I was stuck there now!!

So I'm really making an effort now to shift that weight - starting yesterday. The general plan is:

#Protein breakfast (scrambled tofu with spinach and avocado) OR a veg and fruit smoothy with pea or hemp protein powder

#Lunch mainly proteins with vegetables and maybe some grains

#Afternoon snack - handful of almonds

#Dinner: soup or high protein with veg

Exercise: Running 3 times /wk with some resistance training such as push ups and bench presses in the park.
Join a pilates class twice weekly.

Would love your support and advice. Friends around me who are thin do so in an unhealthy way (not that they would admit it) and skip meals etc That's not my style and it's hard to find good role models who aren't just naturally thin and have battled with their weight. I should mention my other huge obstacle is drinking - having a night out with friends once or twice a week means loads of empty calories and hungover-eating the next day. I don't want to not socialise with friends in this way but know it's stopping me from losing the weight. Any advice on this would be great.Wink

Down another pound to 9stone 5.5. I am def feeling less wobbly around the middle it's amazing the difference a few pounds can make on a short frame.
Determined to keep up the good work now.

How is everyone else getting on?

Can I join you all? I joined WW about 6 weeks ago, with exactly the goal of going from 10.10 down 9 stone something. I'm not huge, I was probably the slimmest person at WW, but people kept offering me seats on the tube because they thought I was pregnant. A mum at school congratulated me too Blush. I just got wear weight well! And none of my clothes fitted me. So, on the scales in the morning I'm down to 9.12. I think tonight at WW that will be 10 stone, so I hope a loss of 10 lbs. I am aiming for 9.6, and I really want to stay there. I always put it back on.

Twobambinos you are doing brilliantly! Would you mind posting a typical day's meal plan that you follow? Just back from holiday and definitely put on a couple of pounds. Trying to get back on top of things again!

Starcat I'd love to but there is no typical day for me sorry. Just trying to follow healthy eating principles although the last two weeks were bad. I weighed in this morning at 9St 4 so getting there but still look dumpy on my short body

ButterflyOfFreedom · 12/12/2015 00:35

Can I join please?
I was around the 10 stone mark for a while then dropped to 9 stone 4 which made me feel much better and I was much happier in myself.
Recently the weight has started to creep back on a bit and I seem a bit stuck at 9 stone 7 - 9 stone 11.
Would love to get to 9 stone which will be my lightest for some years.

My downfall at the moment seems
to be evening snacking - biscuits & chocolate too!

I used MFP for a while but stopped a few months back - maybe I need to pick it up again as it did work for me...

Hello, just wondering how everyone is grtting on? I am also looking to get back to my happy weight of about 9st2-9st4, which I always was prior to babies. Now i am just over 10 stone. I have never dieted in my life, which I appreciate is lucky as I am 40, and most of my friends are quite obsessed with their weight. But while I am still fine within a healthy bmi as i am 5'7", none of my nice clothes fit me and I feel rubbish. I am planning to try mfp and grt back to more exercise. However my appetite seems to have grown massively since i started thinking about food...now i think i almost eat more when i am trying to be good, as i cant stop thinking of food! Anyhow, hoping to shift at least half a stone as i know i will feel a lot better. Dont think id be able for the 5:2, i have two small kids, i think i would pass out. I just dont want to accept that this is my new weight but finding it hard to move even a pound or two. Will it just take me ages?

I also need to get under 9 stone from 9st12. I have a doctor's appointment at the end of February to aim for, don't want to be told off...

Sweet potato curry I could've written your exact post!
I'm just over 10st, 5-8 so my BMi is fine. But I feel wobbly and my clothes don't fit. It's all round my waist.
I'd like to be between 9-9.25 stone ideally, which I was until after DC2.

I find it really hard to diet, as I've never had to worry about my weight before.
I also find that I start to think about food all the time when I can't have it, and 5:2 turns me into a horrible person, and I start to feel faint.

My plan is to try and reduce the snacks, and plan meals around veg, rather than carbs. And I must remember that I don't need as much as DH on my plate - he's 6-2 and very fit.
And drink less wine and beer. Sadly

Can I join? - I'm trying to lose a stone or so - not sure as I don't weigh myself and go by clothes more than anything - bra size usually is my best indicator as I'm an hourglass and put weight on all over - so I'll celebrate when I reduce cup size. Currently 30G Shock!
I'm on 2 meals a day - each meals must contain at least 3 different veg, no seconds and I can eat anything I like. I'm currently dry for January but will return to drinking at weekends only. It's taken me nearly a year to drop snacking - it was so ingrained....now it doesn't even occur to me.

Outcomesthebunnyofdeath · 23/01/2016 13:22

sweetpotato and crappy - this is me also, 10st (perhaps just over but haven't weighed myself for a couple of weeks) 5ft 6. I still fit into most of my old clothes but they don't fit as I'd like them to!

My weakness is sweets - haribo type, I don't drink alcohol and our diet is pretty balanced as I have young children but I probably eat more than I should what with picking at leftovers etc. I don't exercise half as much as I should. I did 30 day shred about 18 months ago and felt fab, but didn't keep it up. I walk the dog roughly an hour a day in this weather, more in the summer but thats about it.

I've just ordered Davina's fit in 5 weeks as the exercises are short and sweet. 7 minutes a day or you can top up to 10, plus extra abdominal exercises etc if you want to do them. I'm hoping this along with sensible eating as I've also ordered her smart carbs recipe book will help shift the extra stone.
