Told to watch my weight - early pregnancy

I'm sure something like this already exists and maybe someone can point me in right direction. I'm overweight- bmi 29 - and 4 weeks pregnant. Spoke to midwife today by phone as she was reviewing my booking form and she said it was really important that I don't put on too much weight.

Anyone else out there trying to manage weight gain? Be great to have a little support group to swap ideas, tips etc.

Do you put on weight on what you eat at the moment? If not then just keep eating the same. You certainly don't need to eat for two.
Also think of food in terms of what nutrients it will offer you and your baby. Empty calories are a waste.

Thanks Wolfiefan, that seems logical but I guess that is my problem... I do typically put on weight if I'm not doing SW or something. Guess I could keep up SW but motivation and will power falter when I have an excuse.

With my 2nd dc I didn't eat sweets, chocolate etc when pg as worried about having another 'big baby' and was slimmer after giving birth than before. Indigestion and nausea were actually quite a helpful weightloss tool ;) Didn't work with my 3rd though but I was a much healthier weight at the beginning of that pregnancy.
