Weight loss chat

A space to talk openly about weight loss journeys and challenges. Mumsnet hasn't checked the qualifications of anyone posting here. You may wish to speak to a medical professional before starting any diet.

Anyone like to join me in an alternative approach to downsizing?

I'm talking about NOT dieting, NOT calorie counting, NOT obsessively weighing, NOT keeping a food diary, NOT joining a weekly slimming club, NOT reporting to one and all a) what you've eaten in a particular day or b) what you weigh or have lost.

This topic caters very well for anyone who wants to do any of the above. There are loads of threads to join ...

But I don't feel part of any of those groups and am looking for like-minded souls to join me.

I'd like to lose weight because I am heavier now than I have ever been, but I am not a compulsive eater and I do not believe in diets.

I think it can be done through more exercise and small improvements to my diet and generally eating less at each meal.

I'd love it if anyone else out there would like to join me along the way. Baby steps, baby steps, as the FlyLady would have it.

Let's lose a stone in the next six months!!! Come on, you know you want to ...

Bump. Or am I on my own then?

I've been doing this, twoisenoughmum. I've been on the BigMoFos threads, as I have a lot of weight to lose, and I find the others on there very helpful. We're all doing differnt things. But I don't like being tied to one particular diet, or being told that I can't eat something, so I've swapped my daily chocolate for 'healthy nuts and seeds' and have been having smaller portions. Started in May, and have lost a couple of stone since then. A long way still to go, and I haven't yet managed to work any exercise into my day - what sort of exercise do you think you'll do?
(oh - and good on you, too - it can be done, I think)
