How come it is so easy to gain weight & so hard to lose it?

Pah! I have just weighed myself & am 10st 11, the heaviest I have been since my Christmas blow out. For the last 18 months, I have usually been 10st 7 but, as I am only 5'4", that is overweight. From January, I did 4:3 (like 5:2 but three days fasting) pretty religiously, did the Shred three times a week and then, in March, started doing C25K. By the end of May, I had finally got down to 10st, gone down a dress size, felt physically great but was tired, hungry & grumpy much of the time. I went on holiday for a week in June & the weight has crept back on ever since. It is obvious why as I stopped running (sprained ankle) but also started drinking (ie had a glass of wine a couple of times during the week and a couple of glasses at the weekend rather than nothing), accepted a slice of cake or biscuit when offered, had the odd ice cream & have done 5:2 rather than 4:3. It has all been rather nice. But I have put on a pound a week and am rapidly heading towards obese, feel physically uncomfortable & few of my clothes fit. I am 39 & have PCOS, it is going to take me months to lose this weight again.
