I just weighed myself. According to my BMI, I'm obese. Only just, but OBESE. ugh.

Honestly, this has made me feel awful about myself and my default when I feel bad is to eat.

Something HAS to change.

I feel panicky about this, and I don't know how to proceed, but I think low fat, low carb, exercise.

Gonna have some porridge for breakfast, with some blueberries.

Today is the first day of the rest of my life...

You can do it. This time last year I was obese, I have lost 4 stone since and my BMI is now 23 and I am looking to lose one more stone. Stick with it!

Wow Sylvia that's awesome! How did you do it?

Thanks, a high protein low carb diet and weight training.

Aim for 1lb a week of loss : that is over 4 stone in a year.

Eat meals.
Try not to snack.
Try to drink water, milk and tea rather than anything fizzy.
Try to eat mindfully.

Beyond that, the actual food you eat is entirely individual.

My bmi was 31 over a year ago and is now 22 I think. I've went from 12.5 stone to 9 stone anyway.

I basically ate smaller portions, still had a mini choc bar OR 2 chocolate biscuits with my tea everyday, never went for seconds, walk a lot. Lots of fresh food, hardly any processed crap. I fill up on salads in wholemeal wraps etc for lunch, halved my dinner portion (that was healthy when I was obese but I ate twice-3 times what I should be eating) All small changes that are realistic. I still overdo things some weekends but I'm back on track every Monday and am easily maintaining.

I also used mfp but not religiously. It was a real eye opener though.

Good luck. My kick up the bum was a nurse at a routine medical telling me I was obese. I really thought I was just 'overweight'.

It has changed my life in every way and you can do it too Smile

my BMI was 35 in January, it was a BIG wake up call and being told by the doctor that i was obese was heart stopping, i was mortified. It's now 26 and i've lost nearly 4 stone. So close to being a healthy BMI and I can't wait Smile

Used MFP religiously and made sure i did over 10,000 steps every day, little changes make all the difference. Good luck Flowers

I agree with a PP about the high protein low card and weight training.

Another thing I would recommend is join jnstagram because you will be able to find so much recipe inspiration! I love lurking on there looking for new things to try!
