Chub rub - any tips?

I'm off to Crete on Monday where it will apparently be hotter than hell.
It is my first beach holiday for a very long time and certainly as a size 20.
as well as scouring t'interweb for chubsters' swimwear I have been reading up on what to do about the dreaded chub rub Blush
Any tips?

Urgh it's the worst feeling isn't it?

This works m.boots.com/h5/cat_hub?unCountry=uk&path=/en/Lanacane-Anti-Chafing-Gel-30g_51067/

GarminGirl · 18/08/2015 14:06

Er, think you've left it a bit late now. Guess all you can do is the usual advice of cycling shorts/body glide etc

Hope it doesn't spoil your holiday too much

slimytoadwife · 18/08/2015 14:13

Fuck off with your judgy 'you've left it a bit late now.' You can get chub rub at a size 10.

Op - evans comfort shorts. Order a few pairs now for delivery. Life changing.

spleenyone · 18/08/2015 14:20

Totally agree with slimy, get a few pairs of Evans comfort shorts ASAP and enjoy your holiday.

GarminGirl · 18/08/2015 14:49

Fuck off yourself slimy

I'm assuming you've not got much time op, not really for a definite delivery anyway. I'm sure there's more specialist items available out there but I'd be worried it would all be arriving once I'm gone.

How hot is it supposed to be?

slimytoadwife · 18/08/2015 15:35

It's Tuesday. Where do you live - the outer Hebrides? Of course op can get stuff delivered. Tomorrow probably, definitely for Thursday.

You need to deal with the sweat and the friction. If you don't have time to get any shorts (I recommend Sloggi long leg briefs) you can try the following:

With knickers on, spray antiperspirant in the places that rub. This should deal with the moisture. To deal with the friction, when the spray is dry, add a layer of talc.

I find antiperspirant makes me itch so I just use talc, but this needs constant reapplying once my legs start to sweat.

CurlsLDN · 18/08/2015 19:55

Honestly, just order the lanacane gel, to your local boots or your house. Put in on once, it lasts all day, no hot shorts, no multiple layers of deodorant. And it'll be delivered in time easily

StillRainingInMay · 18/08/2015 23:34

Put on oil, not talc. It reduces the friction between your legs. Unperfumed massage oil works well (eg sweet almond oil).

slug · 19/08/2015 08:18

Curls, I find the lanacane gel lasts about 30 minutes for me, hence the antiperspirant/talc layers. You just have to experiment to see what works for you.

CurlsLDN · 19/08/2015 08:44

Ah fair enough slug, apologies

Eminybob · 19/08/2015 08:46

I've just had a look on the Evans site for comfort shorts, does anyone know what the sizing is like? The options are just 1,2 and 3. I'm a 14-16 what would fit me?

addictedtosugar · 19/08/2015 08:56

Click on size guide, and choose accessories. They are sized like tights, so it depends on your height.

addictedtosugar · 19/08/2015 08:57

But prob a 1. I ended up in 2, as I am boarder line height, and they didn't have any 1s!!! They are fine, a bit long but hey.

Eminybob · 19/08/2015 08:59

Thank you. I'm a short arse, I think I'll go for a 1. They are half price, plus buy one get one half price so 2 pairs for £9!

helenahandbag · 19/08/2015 09:50

I'm a 14-16 and 5' 4", and I have the Evans comfort shorts in size 1.
