Am currently being careful with carbs. Not doing Atkins proper though as I do start each day with a slice of toast and a cup of tea. After that, trying to do no pasta, rice, bread, pulses, just lots of veggies, salad, fish and chicken. (Do slip up occassionally though! And am still drinking white wine!!)) There are so many threads here about different diets inc WW and Slimming World, GI. Pros and cons of each anyone?

I've been trying to lose weight since ds was born 5 years ago! Tried them all, can do them all but not for long enough to get the job done

WW - every food (apart from veg) has a point value and you can eat what you like each day as long as you don't exceed the point total. There is also a 'no count', where you can eat what you like off a list of given foods but you have to stop when you feel comfortably full.

SW - is great if you can pack away large quantities of food as all fruit and veg are free and days are split into green - limited meat but as much fruit/veg/potatoes/rice/pasta as you can eat. and red - limited carbs but as much fruit/veg/meat as you can eat. There are other 'free' foods such as some yoghurts etc.

GI - each food has a GI index which is todo with sugars and how long it takes for the body to diest and it's a case of limiting foods with a high GI such as white rice and potatoes, pasta etc and swapping them for brown rice, new potatoes and bown pasta.

Personally they are all good, easy to fit into a normal lifestyle and you don't need fancy extras.
I suppose the benefit of SW or WW is that you can go to a class and get support and ideas to boost you along the way.

Good luck!
