Whole30 - anyone up for it / already doing it?

I've been low-carbing for a few years and leaned towards paleo / primal. A Whole30 after gallbladder surgery earlier this year made me feel absolutely cracking - I lost 9lb and a lot of my digestive symptoms settled.

I've since reintroduced dairy and the occasional cake lentil and I feel like crap again so am starting anew with 30 days of clean eating.

Anyone fancy joining me for a bit of support, recipe ideas and food listing?

If you've not heard of it there's more info on the Whole30 here

It's really not as faddy as it sounds Grin it just cuts out grains, dairy, sugar and processed nonsense for a month

Thanks for all the breakfast suggestions. If I can make my own muesli and have it with fruit, I'll be sorted. Love the idea of smoked salmon and poached eggs at the weekend too.

The rhubarb was barely ok sweetened with some oranges that I found in the bottom of the fridge. Don't think I'll have that again though.

Lunch was a washout as a colleague had brought teacakes into work for me as I'm leaving this week. I couldn't have said no. Just had the one though and stuck to herbal tea or black coffee all day.

Felt very proud of myself in M&S café. I just chose a pot of crudites and a smoothie rather than the usual cream tea.

Tea was white fish with lettuce and peas with cherries to follow.

I need a big shop at the organic shop to set myself up. And some Halloumi and Feta I'll just have to eat to get rid of. Till then it's Whole30 lite for me too.

No exercise today as I was too busy but hopefully will get a swim in tomorrow.

Well, I am very pleased with myself this morning!! I had a really bad night's sleep thanks to my 4 year old who has decided that he can't possibly sleep without me so was up and down loads between 2 and 5am and was not feeling my best this morning, which is never good where food is concerned! DS2 asked for pancakes and I was so tempted to make some for myself too (would have made them with rice flour so not awful but not the best and the maple syrup I would have put on them wouldn't have helped!) and normally I would have caved but I think I'm starting to realise that there is no point in giving in all the time because often I do and then don't even enjoy whatever it is that much! Anyway, I had some wee sausages (Helen Browning organic speedy sausages-cook in 5 mins so really handy!) that I'd already cooked for the DC so had those with two eggs fried in ghee and some fried mushrooms and tomato, washed down with a coffee with coconut milk and oil in it. So yummy and I feel good mentally about it and I'm sure I will feel better physically later too!!

How's everyone else getting on?

Pane well done. I've been pretty dreadful today. Fell off the wagon spectacularly due to a celebration. But remembering not to let the perfect be the enemy of the good and starting afresh tomorrow.

TigerFeat · 23/07/2015 23:07

I've done good... and bad. Not so much fell off the wagon, but jumped off for a short period of time and then got hastily back on.

I've absolutely stuck to it except for a meal out last night, when I just couldn't find anything on the menu (greek) as there was no fish and I don't eat meat. So just ordered what I would normally. It occurred to me afterwards that I probably could have had a large salad. I guess it takes time to educate yourself and not just revert to your default settings.

Anyway, all ok otherwise, lots of fruit, veg and fish. And herbal tea.

I have had this packet of Linwoods ground flaxseeds for ages, and finally tried it out. It is quite nice sprinkled on bananas and gave me the chocolate fix I've been craving. Also made me feel fuller for longer.

Tigerfeet I like the Linwood flaxseed and nuts variety. I put a bit of maple on and some almond milk . Nice hot too in winter.

TigerFeat · 26/07/2015 23:24

Where do you buy it Milllii?

I had a tiny sample sachet and would like to buy some more. Didn't find it in our local Sainsbury's or Tesco (they're quite small though).

How's everyone doing? I was doing great till I went to a friends for tea today and ate Pizza & chips followed by homemade cake. Would have been rude not to.

If I stick by the rules and start the 30 again each time I eat something forbidden I'm going to be permanently on day 1!

My clothes are feeling looser though, but until the Pizza and cake I had had a headache for a few days and was v grumpy.

Back on it tomorrow.
