PLEASE help me tone my arms up for my wedding in 10 days!

I realise I've left this a bit late... To say the least...

My dress is so beautiful that I had to have it, but it's sleeveless. I'm 5'6", weigh 10st 4 and I'm a size 10. But my arms! I have dinner-lady arms!

I'm low-carbing and eating sensibly, loads of water, etc. please tell me what I can do to even improve my arms a FRACTION in the next 10 days. I will do ANYTHING.

Thanks! Love, Wobbly

I have the same issue, I think. Underneath a layer of wobble, my muscles are firm and toned. So I think it's mostly a skin thing rather than a muscle tone thing. I've been using this:
www.neutrogena.co.uk/product/visibly-renew/norwegian-formula-visibly-renew-elasti-boost-body-balm

It says you'll see results in 4 weeks, but I'm seeing improvement after just one week. Generally favourable reviews elsewhere online too.

Vivacia · 19/06/2015 17:46

Vivacia that's not necessarily true.

Which bit?

What do you think is the difference between building and toning muscle? My understanding is one word is used for men and another for women.

Dowser · 20/06/2015 12:59

Pipistrelle that appears to be £2-49 or was it £2-99 in tesco. Itmight give it a try.

I'm getting married in 3.5 weeks with the same fat arm problem and imnot a size 10 either.

Wgoe...you make me feel tired just reading about all your exercising. I'm sure you will look fabulous
I think me and husband to be are sliding into comfy old age. It's funny but in my 40 s I was very arm conscious and always wore a sleeve.

Now I think I've had a brain transplant at some point while I was sleeping maybe and seek out the no sleeve option sincemy late 50 s

Maybe I just want to inflict my arm fat on the world or maybe I've reached the cant really be arsed stage.
Time has taught me to love myself right now because inthe not so distant future for me when good looks have definitely gone I'll look back at my photos and think why weren't you happy with yourself then. You were lovely.

I can already see a big difference in the 7 years since I've known Oh. When we met I was 56 and probably looked 50 well there's been a lot of changes since then and there's an awful lot more wrinkles despite a good diet. I don't think I look 5 years younger anymore. I'm not going down the route of fillers etc. I don't like pain. I couldn't bear a mistake and I don't have that kind of money so I'll just continue to make the best of what I've got and a goodman to share my life with.

So if you are younger than me be sure to enjoy yourself now. Take lots of photos. They are your memories.

Have a fab day Wgoe . Obviously your oh loves the whole package. Do come back and tell ushow great it was.

Vivacia- '"Toned" is just muscle you can see because there is less fat and/or bigger muscle.'

That bit!

Agree that an area would look toned because you can see muscle, as it's more firm but I also believe that a muscle needs to be toned in order for it to look more defined and less bulky. I'm comparing power lifter bodies to fitness model (male and female) figures! The fitness model needs to do the high rep low weight aspect of weights in order to shape their muscles and gain symmetry, whereas the power lifters DGAF and just focus on lifting the heaviest weight possible!

A lot of weight lifters would bulk throughout off season by focusing on gaining mass then change their training routine in order to work on the shape and appearance of their muscles!

I'd rather be a power lifter because I could eat thousands of calories a day.... Oh imagine all the ice cream!

Vivacia · 20/06/2015 15:35

I don't think there's a thing as "toned" other than a description of "muscle that isn't as big as a power lifter's".
I feel that "low weight, high rep" is aimed at women and does them a disservice.

I lift heavy weights, low reps and my workouts take about 40 minutes. I maintain at about 2700 calories a day. I'm a size 8 and am "toned" rather than "bulky".

Thanks for the latest brilliant advice! I think a firming cream is a genius idea. I've been using the Nivea firming body oil and the skin has gone beautifully soft, but they're still doughy. Honestly they could be sponsored by Gregg's.

OK... I'm now 10st 1, which is just one pound away from my Wedding Day Goal Weight. I can now happily exist on fruit salad, chicken and plain lettuce. And grapefruits, lots of grapefruits. I have SO much energy -- I really don't want to go back to my old ways of eating (basically, non-stop). All my clothes look better and I'm getting ogled in the street again. :-)

I'm using Nip+Tuck Upper Arm Gel. I also bought Nivea firming lotion and St Tropez gradual tan + firming. Hopefully, by Saturday my arms will feel like concrete.

I've cleaned my mum's house AND my house today. I've made everything for the wedding -- all the orders of service, place-names, table-name signs, seating chart, etc. My rings are currently in the jewellers getting welded together (the wedding ring is a half-eternity and it looks best when it's lined up centrally with the engagement ring) so I can put them on on Saturday and never take them off again.

I feel weirdly on top of things... So unlike me...

I'm off to do more press ups, tricep dips, bicep curls, and (if I get the chance), another Jillian Michaels One Week Shred workout later.

Thank you, all of you!!

Well done OP you deserve to enjoy the rewards of your hard work!

Dowser · 23/06/2015 09:37

I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

( hasn't picked up one weight which took up residence under the bed about 7 years ago!)

You sound like its all sorted so enjoy your coast up to your big day and well done for getting to goal.

A sneaky photo would be lovely after the event.

Hope it's a fabulous day, the sun shines and everything goes smoothly.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 23/06/2015 17:01
