exercise - morning or evening?

I've started a boot camp style regime at home this morning, and am already remembering why I used to exercise in the evenings! I like being able to flop into bed afterwards and not feel any aches for 7/8 hours Grin

I thought mornings would be a good idea, I'd read something online a while ago about exercising in a fasted state Hmm and since I shower in the mornings anyway, I could just get it done then shower and get on with my day, safe in the knowledge my hard work was done already. Plus I reckon I'm less likely to eat crap during the day if I've already done a workout.

Except now I'm tired, cold and irritable Hmm. It will pass, yes?

How do you do yours? I appreciate for some it will be a case of fit it in wherever you can between working, home stuff and DCs...just thought while DH has a week off and theres no school, I'd crack on and get a head start. I do feel better for it overall though Smile

Do it when you like doing it because that's what you're most likely to stick to. Jury's still out on the fasted state thing- no conclusive evidence and will only ever work within an overall calorie deficit. If you find you have more energy in the evenings that would probably outweigh any benefit anyway. Personally I do mornings because I find that 'what gets done first gets done' but everyone's different.

In the days I used to do exercise dvd's I did them in the evening after the kids were asleep so no interruptions. Then I could get in the bath for a nice long soak to ease the muscles. May go back to this some day...

i prefer to exercise in the morning, then its over and done with

nothing worse that trying to build enthusiasm for the gym or a class after a shitty day at work

another vote for

do the one you enjoy as then you'll stick with it

Personally I prefer mornings nowadays but definitely the best exercise regime is the one you actually do.

I'm keeping at it, in the mornings, 2kg off so far since Sunday! StarStar I don't care if it's water, fat or whatever...its enough to spur me on (for now at least!) Grin

I might have to switch back to evenings next week when DH back to work, don't know if I'm quite motivated enough for a 5am start to exercise before he goes to work!

Well done you.
Once you've managed 3 weeks it will be on its way to a lifetime habit.

I exercise in the mornings, always fasted (if I eat, I feel sick Blush)
It suits me as there is less time for procrastination. I just get up and get it done, sets me up for the day, whereas if I leave it to the evening I tend to put it off.

I'm an evening exerciser. Exercising in the morning makes me feel really nauseous.

Really messes with hair washing though.

Do when we you enjoy it.
I prefer morning - get up early and eat something like a boiled egg, drink a large glass of water and then wait 20 mins (usually unload dishwasher/do a load of laundry) then jump on treadmill. Then shower and ready for day.
I seem to make better food choices (even subconsciously) when I have exercised that morning and my weight loss seems to slow when I do same exercise in the evening instead.
But that's just what works for me.
