How much weight did you need to lose before you noticed a change in your dress size? What was your starting dress size?

I'm starting at a size 22 and want to get down to 16 by Christmas. I'd like to lose 3.5st between now and then but not sure if my dress size aspiration is doable with only 3st lost. I think size 18 is probably more realistic?

I've lost a little less than 3stone and went from a size 14-16 (the smaller size being a vanity size Grin to a loose size vanity 10. The bloody vanity sizes don't help do they? it depends how good your diet is (I did it on the Paul Mackenna I Can make You Thin way of eating ) which worked well for me

I've also worked out a few quick starters .to weight loss if you're interested.

I found that each 1.5 stone loss = one dress size.

It will also depend on what exercise you do. I did a lot of cycling so found that my jean size dropped faster than my top size.

Henbur1702 · 15/05/2015 13:45

I'm interested ppeatfruit?

tabulahrasa · 15/05/2015 13:55

I'm taller by 4.5 inches to be exact, lol.

I lose a dress size for roughly every 2 stones. My friend who is 5 ft 2 says she's more like 1.5 stones per dress size.

So you might not quite be a 16 at that weight loss... Though you could possibly lose a bit more than that in that time anyway, depending on how well whatever it is you're planning to do works, 2lb a week would be more like 4 1/2 stones.

Ok Grin

  1. Give up all caffeinated, alcoholic drinks, drink plenty of herbal, green, teas.and water when you feel hungry. Not with your meal.
  1. Only eat either side of the hours of 7.30. p.m. and 7.30ish a.m.
  1. Eat fruit on an empty stomach.

4, Don't have heavy protein and carbs at the same meal. (So a big salad sandwich, no cheese or meat in it). But protein with plenty of veg no potatoes though!

  1. Eat really slowly and consciously sitting down, not at a screen! (That's from Paul Mckenna)

They're simple but very effective. One thing to say though if you follow the above and you're used to normal coffees, teas etc. then start on a weekend when you're not rushing about and can rest (you may get a headache for a day or so).

For me around a 10lb weight loss is a drop in dress size. I'm an inch shorter than you and if I was a size 16 I would weigh between 10 stone 9 and 11 stone 4. Very specific but can't you tell I have been just about every dress size over the years? Hmm. It all depends on body shape though.

ProfYaffle · 15/05/2015 16:26

I'm 5' 3.5". I've lost approx 2st 10b since January and gone down just about 2 dress sizes. It's all so variable though. I started off size 20, now getting into some 16s but not others.

I've been low carbing with lots of exercise.

Totallyaddictedtoshoes · 15/05/2015 18:33

I'm just over 5'3 and have lost 5 and a half stone. I went from 15 to 9.7. To be honest I found when I was bigger it took a much bigger weight loss to drop a size whereas now about 7/10 lbs does it. This is not good at Christmas or on holiday!

dun1urkin · 15/05/2015 20:12

I'm 5.5 and have lost 5 stone.
The more you lose the less it takes to lose a dress size. I've gone from a 20 to a 12/14.

dun1urkin · 15/05/2015 20:14

Ok I've just realised what I said might not make sense.
Basically it might take 2 stone to go from a 20 to an 18 but 1 stone to go from a 14 to a 12.
15.10 to 10.10. Another 7 or 8 to go... Grin

bishboschone · 15/05/2015 20:17

there is only about an inch in between 6/8/10, as the sizes go up the the difference can be up to 2 inches which is why it's less weight at the lower sizes .

TooSpotty · 15/05/2015 20:18

5'4", lost four stone, went from 18/20 to 14/16 bottom and 12 top. But I have no boobs and carry most of my weight round my middle. I didn't notice much of a change in size for the first couple of stone - existing clothes a bit looser but nothing more dramatic than that.

KanyesVest · 15/05/2015 20:23

I'm 5ft2 and lost 4 stone. Went from 18/20 to 8/10/12 depending on the shop. My reference trousers (the pair that broke the camel's back) were 20 and I'm a snug if I hold my breath 10 in the same brand now.

Best of luck, it's a hard but very worthwhile journey.

itsonlysubterfuge · 15/05/2015 20:23

I'm 5'2'' I noticed a dress size change after I lost just over 4 stone. My jeans were a size 18 in American sizes and then I went to a size 14 in American sizes.

FoodieMum3 · 15/05/2015 21:18

1 stone = 1 dress size for me.
I've lost 4 stone, taking me from size 16, to a 10.

SakuraSakura · 15/05/2015 21:22

Such huge differences between everyone here! It's very interesting. I don't weigh myself so I cannot anything of use, sorry.
