Nice, shiny new thread with a big fat line drawn underneath last week

Well done dottydot and flutterbee. WWB - remember - DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP! It's done, move on - you can get those scales moving in the right direction again.

Wonder what Sue's up to. I think it might have been today she arrives in Ust-Kamengorsk (sure I've spelt that wrong), and maybe even gets to go to the orphanage.

WigWamBam · 02/11/2006 10:12

I have my hair shirt on, Jackie! I know I shouldn't beat myself up about it but I am just so disgusted with myself. I didn't think I'd been that bad; I know I had a few treats while we were away but I didn't think I had let myself go quite so badly.

Anyway, line drawn ... another week, another new start.

I keep wondering where sue is and how she's getting on ... I really hope that everything goes smoothly for her now. How exciting to think she may even have met Junior by now!

Dottydot · 02/11/2006 15:33

WWB - don't feel bad, please. If it helps, I'm quite disappointed that I feel well enough to go to WW tonight. I'd assumed I was still going to feel poorly and this week, because I knew it would be my last proper eating week (before going gluten-free) I've eaten EVERYTHING - sweets from morning until night, all sensible eating out of the window, no water at all, etc.etc... But I'm going tonight to see what the damage is. Have definitely put on weight - i can feel it.

Sigh. But it's a new week for both of us - we can do it - keep thinking long term - I'm aiming for the summer now! I'm hoping for another stone off by May time(ish). Maybe set a target to aim for? Keep going and don't be hard on yourself - we're all in this together and we all know how flipping easy it is to fall off the wagon...

schneebly · 02/11/2006 15:37

Oh shoot - bad start back! I forgot to e-mail! I stayed tyhe same this week which I am happy with as I have eaten out etc. Well done to everyone else who lost or maintained and WWB dont worry, if you had gained the 10lb without having lost any in the first place that would be so much worse and you know what they say...the quicker it goes on the quicker it somes off! A lot of it could be fluid retention.

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 02/11/2006 22:08

Would it be in poor taste to suggest that the combined weight of the BigMoFos (as thrown behind Sue) is considerable? Yes, I thought so...

It was a holiday, WWB. And you'll lose it again quickly. No beating yourself up or we will get Sue to wag her finger at you when she gets back...

Also forgot to email, and also stayed the same.

Dottydot · 02/11/2006 22:25

Hmm - I've lost 0.5lb, but I'm like a big ship - I take a long time to change direction! So I still reckon I'll have gained by next week, even though I'm back on the healthy eating wagon, if you see what I mean...

Fauve - can I just ask - is your dh strict about not using the toaster and using separate stuff so there's no contamination, gluten-wise? It seems a bit OTT to me - today's been a bit bewildering - had my first wheat-free pasta... is about all I can say!

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 02/11/2006 22:29

I have a friend whose DH is coeliac and they definitely have separate stuff to ensure no contamination (although generally the whole family stays gluten-free because that's safer).

Lemonaidtreasonandplot - at your comment about the combined weight of BigMoFos (not to mention the rest of MN) behind Sue being considerable. Dottydot - well done on losing again - has to be good, even if, as you say, you feel you might put on next week.

NothingButAttitudeOnMN · 04/11/2006 13:15

Why are we having messages deleted on here, WWB whats the matter?

Dottydot · 04/11/2006 14:21

It's nothing sinister! I can't say because then it'll need to be deleted, but is because of a nice surprise (am I allowed to say that?!)

Meanwhile I'm getting v. confused, what with congratulating myself for eating gluten free toast this morning, and then remembering that I shouldn't actually have eaten any toast (with tons of butter) at all... Am going to have to get over my fear that there's nothing in the house I can eat - especially as we had an Ocado gluten-free order come this morning so I've got all sorts of stuff in - but need to remember gluten-free stuff's still got calories in!

JackieNo · 04/11/2006 15:31

Yes, nothingbutattitude, I saw the original messages, and it's definitely nothing sinister.

WigWamBam · 04/11/2006 18:06

MN Towers deleted one message too many so it looks worse than it is! It's something nice, I promise ... you know what it's all about, nothingbut

I had said in my first message that I would ask MN Towers to delete both messages, and the second one was just to say I had asked for it to be done, and that I hoped justamum had seen my reply.

OOh - exciting - bit of an update on Sue's site . Can't wait for more details.

coppertop · 05/11/2006 12:26

How exciting! She's met Junior!

Dottydot · 05/11/2006 12:33

ooh - I'm dying to know all about 'junior' - fingers crossed everything's OK!!!

WigWamBam · 05/11/2006 12:42

Oh, how lovely ... I'm unbelievably pleased and excited for her. Can't wait to read all about Junior!

OP posts:
Fauve · 05/11/2006 13:19

Dottydot, we do have a separate toaster, but I don't have a separate work area in the kitchen for gf, which I have heard some people do. Also, ds and I are prone to taking glugs of milk straight from the bottle, and I have thought we should ideally have separate milk because of the possibility of tiny bits of bread getting into the milk (sorry if TMI, folks), but we don't atm. We do have separate butter. It's not as much of a pain as it sounds, you do get used to it. The worst thing is trying to find meals that all of us CAN and WILL eat.

goblinqueen · 05/11/2006 19:18

Can I join? I need to lose 10 stone

WigWamBam · 05/11/2006 19:57

Of course you can; there are at least two of us on this thread who have that kind of weight to shift (I'm one of them).

You might have seen our "creed" (for want of a better word) if you've looked at some of the earlier threads, but if you haven't here it comes ... if it makes you nod your head in agreement, or punch the air saying "Yes, yes, yes!" then you're in the right place!

BigMoFos Creed

The BigMoFos are about attitude as much as anything: some of us were cheesed off with 7 stone people posting about being bloaters, and whingeing because they needed to lose 4lb and how hard it was. We just wanted a place where people understood how large people feel, and where we could feel supported in a way that those 7 stone people couldn't manage to support us.

We do a weigh-in on a Wednesday, but not all of us weigh in. Some just follow the thread for support, whichever you would feel more comfortable doing. It's all pretty free and easy but it seems to work. Email is [email protected] if you want to join the weigh-in, otherwise just hop along for the ride.

Our rules:

No beating yourself up (we will do that for you if necessary)
Each week is a new week and you leave last week?s problems behind
No pedantic grammar corrections (unless what you typed really doesn?t make sense) we are quite smart and will work out what you mean.

OP posts:
Dottydot · 05/11/2006 22:12

Fauve - thanks! The butter/margarine thing only just occurred to us this weekend, so now I've got my own butter. We haven't gone as far as separate work spaces either - and as I'm always making ds's toast, sandwiches etc. it's daft to get too paranoid about it - although I'm trying to rinse my hands when I've made them something. What a palaver!

Ah well, it's kind of taking my mind off 'dieting', which is good. My brother was up this weekend - don't see him that often although we're close, and he noticed how much weight I've lost but said something about the fact that I've lost weight in the past but always put it back on... Grrr... He's right, but I was still a bit pissed off. I'll just have to keep it off (and lose another 2 stone!!) to win the smug sister of the year award!

Dottydot · 05/11/2006 22:13

ooh - and welcome goblinqueen!

Fauve · 05/11/2006 22:34

Dottydot, he should get tested, too, really - siblings have a high chance of having it if one has. You should feel SO much better now you know you're coeliac - you'll be doing triathlons before you know it then you can laugh in his face.

Have a look at the Allergies section on here - it's really good. A random tip I've found useful - Tesco's Free From pitta breads are really nice, and non-coeliacs don't mind eating them. You would be surprised how useful that has been to me - in a family that lives on taramasalata and houmous. I have to avoid them of course in the interests of weight loss - but am not always successful. That tarama is the work of the devil I'm sure WWB would agree that COTTAGE CHEESE is a much better choice all round.

Welcome from me, too, goblinqueen.
