Nice, shiny new thread with a big fat line drawn underneath last week

goblinqueen · 06/11/2006 06:50

Thanks for the welcome

JackieNo · 06/11/2006 07:11

Hi goblinqueen, and welcome.

Dottydot · 06/11/2006 09:42

(last Coeliac-related post, honest!) - Fauve - he has got tested and is negative, fortunately. Just got to get ds2 done now. Thanks for the tip re: the Tescos pitta bread, I'm just at the beginning of trying out gf products, and it's not the best stuff I've ever tasted...

Fauve · 06/11/2006 14:20

We could continue on the Allergies threads - ds is off sick yet again today with suspected coeliac...breaks my heart - must get it diagnosed. See you Over There!

Have you seen Sue's website - it's a boy!! Fingers crossed it all goes through OK - she's visiting him but can't say much more until all the paperwork's sorted out.

Can't believe it's nearly Wednesday again - how's everyone getting on? I'm kind of back on the straight and narrow, but I'm not doing as well on the drinking water and eating fruit front, which is daft because I know that's what works. Need a bit of encouragement to go to the water machine not the kettle!

WigWamBam · 07/11/2006 10:43

Sue!

I am sitting here with my eyes brimming over having read her update on her site (happy jiggy tears though, so that's OK!). Here's to the next few weeks.

I've been struggling this week, been really good but it's been hard. I've had loads of cravings, which I haven't always been able to resist, but I'm hopeful that some of the weight I put on will have come off again.

Oh wow - I really want to know more about Junior - can't wait till she can tell us more. It is so exciting, isn't it.

Have been OK-ish, but had a day off yesterday, and went into Oxford, so instead of lunch, I had morning coffee (Starbucks' Gingerbread Latte and a muffin), then, later, afternoon coffee (ahem, Starbucks Gingerbread Latte and a cake). Not really a balanced diet. Back at work today, so hopefully a bit more disciplined.

Dottydot · 07/11/2006 11:28

Days off are killers aren't they? Weekends as well for me - I really should just come to work 7 days a week - wouldn't be popular at home but I'd be slimmer!

JackieNo · 07/11/2006 11:50

Yes - much less temptation at work.

Fauve · 08/11/2006 09:30

Oh d@mn, I've put on again - I thought I was eating rather well for someone who's supposed to be dieting. Also no gym attendance Must get back on the straight and narrow for next week

Dottydot · 08/11/2006 09:39

I've lost 0.5lb - it's a long, hard slog isn't it..? I've also stopped doing any exercise - must start doing some again in the evenings. And will someone nag me about drinking water? I know it's good for me but it still feels like taking medicine!

NothingButAttitudeOnMN · 08/11/2006 09:53

I've left a msg for sue on her site, her post made me all teary as well wwb.

I have stayed the same this week which was a suprise as I was sure I had put on I suspect it will catch up with me next week.

MrsJohnCusack · 08/11/2006 10:30

oh dear I wept when I read Sue's message....
but at least it's good news - have had a few not so nice bits of news over the last couple of days and they've really upset me - feeling a bit knackered, exhausted and crap in general really. Consequently am stuffing my face

forgot to say thanks for posting Sue's site NothingButAttitudeOnMN.

and hello Goblinqueen!

JackieNo · 08/11/2006 15:26

Hi all, rather mystified, as I seem to have lost 3 lb. Not sure how. Maybe it's all the Gingerbread Lattes....

WigWamBam · 08/11/2006 17:17

I forgot to weigh myself this morning so will have to do it tomorrow morning.

I've had a really frustrating time trying to find something nice to wear for dh's Christmas do. He's booked a hotel so we can both have a drink and won't have to dash home (first time leaving dd overnight with a babysitter ... wibble!) and I'd really like a new dress to knock him dead with ... and do you think I can find anything? I can't believe the frumpy sacks of dresses the manufacturers expect larger women to wear (well, I can; it would be nice to think that things have improved but actually nothing changes). The only nice ones I can find are so expensive that I'd need to take out a second mortgage to afford them.

Almost 50% of the female population is a size 16 or above, which would suggest there's a huge (pardon the pun) market out there ... yet still all I can find is stuff my grandmother wouldn't have been seen dead in.

Am so frustrated!

WWB - I know what you mean. I can't think of anywhere other than Evans, which either seems to have tons of brilliant stuff in, or bugger all... Ann Harvey's OK for work stuff, but not very glamorous/young. Not sure what M&S has got in - we need JackieNo to do some links - I lurk in the style section sometimes and she's very good at finding stuff!!

WigWamBam · 08/11/2006 19:15

I can't fit into Ann Harvey or M&S - without the norkage I'd be OK, I'm a 26 on the bottom, but the norks push me up to a 32 on top. I've had a look on the Evans website and my jaw dropped at the stunning boringness of it all.

I have been googling all afternoon and come up with nothing. I found a couple of sites that did some nice stuff but they wanted hundreds of pounds for the privilege and I can't afford that.

I know that if I lost the weight it would be a doddle to buy pretty clothes but it's not going to disappear by next month, and I need clothes now!

OP posts:
Dottydot · 08/11/2006 19:30

You need to go into a big Evans - the website doesn't have everything on. Don't know where abouts you are - any chance of getting to the Oxford St one(s)? Or you could try e-bay - I get the occasional top from e-bay - bit of a gamble though, I know. I'll another think!

Dottydot · 08/11/2006 19:35

nice floaty tops!

How about this website? Some gorgeous tops - most stop at about 28/30, but it might be worth ordering one or two just to see? Coronation St is calling but I'm on a mission now (it's much more fun looking for clothes for other people!) so will be back!

WigWamBam · 08/11/2006 19:36

I'm near Birmingham, we have a small branch locally and a larger one in Brum - but they're both pretty hopeless.

My own fault for being this size in the first place, I know - but it exasperates me that there is so little choice.

OP posts:
WigWamBam · 08/11/2006 19:38

Those are nice but I'd definitely need bigger than a 28 - 30. There's a lovely black dress somewhere on that website but again it stops at size 28 and I'd look like a sausage bursting out of it's skin!

Thank you anyway

A shop called Yours opened here a while back, biggest sizes are 26 or 28, but it's cheap and they have new stock as often as regular sized fashion shops and nearly always have sales. I LOVE it!

Evans online has none of the good stuff in the stores. In fact the stores vary, there's more frumpy stuff in mine here than where my mum lives. Same with Asda George, here the larger sizes section is tiny, but back where my mum lives it's much larger and more varied.

Dottydot · 08/11/2006 20:00

WWB - don't you dare say things like it's your fault!! You know we don't have negativity on this thread..! OK, I'll admit I'm a telly addict and neeeeeed to watch the Bill (I really should have the computer in the same room as the TV) but at 9pm I'm going to be doing some serious searching!!
