10weeks to lose a stone...help me decide how and keep me on track

Well ladies, I need your help to decide on the best way to lose 14ish pounds in 10 weeks. This summer I have 2 big weddings and a family holiday and I would like to be at my fighting weight. I am 5'5 and weigh around 10st4 currently, would like to be 9st4. I am aware that my current weight is okay according to BMI but I have a smallish frame with huge boobs and I don't carry extra weight all that well. I have been around 9st-9st4 as an adult and I looked and felt healthy and slim, not thin, so I think its a good target to aim for. My current measurements are 40-32-38 so theres plenty to lose.

I have tried many diets in the past and lack of discipline has always been my downfall. So i hope by getting some encouragement here I can stick to whatever I decide. At the moment I'm not sure whether to low carb or do MFP. I will try to exercise 3 x pw although 2 x might be more realistic (ft job, 2 toddlers, part time study, marriage, house, friends etc all get in the way!). I am reasonably active daily, usually do my 10000 steps etc but no proper exercise at the mo.

What do you recommend vipers? I am willing to give things a try, really want to get this undenrway and be successful!

Hi op.
I'm about the same size as you ok I'm 5ft 2
I've got a wedding in May.
No idea what to wear !

I've realised I'm a grazer and working from home doesn't help.

I've done dukan, low carb, MFP, cut out sugar etc.
it works but not for long and I seem to always go back to 10 stone.

I made a decision that I'm going to eat 3 healthy, filling meals a day and stop snacking.
So yesterday I had 2 poached eggs on granary bread spread with half an avocado.
Lunch was homemade minestrone soup.
Dinner was salmon with a small amount if cous cous.
I also walk the dogs twice a day.

I'm going to eat well and see if it makes a difference to cut out the grazing!

Yes that sounds very sensible. I steadily lose about 1lb a week doing mfp and eating around 1400 calories a day and pigging out a bit more at weekends. So i can lose and my metabolism isn't particularly slow. But the weekends have gradually become more and more indulgent and now I'm not losing at all and have gained a couple of pounds back. I need to be quite strict or find the time to do some proper exercise. Probably both actually.

I'm thinking I might just have to be super boring. Porridge for breakfast, pret salad for lunch or home made salad and fish, high-veg stir fry type evening meal with small amount of rice. And no snacking. And 2 x exercise dvds per week. Does that sound like it might work?

I don't know. I suppose it depends on portion size Wink

Imeanlikeseriously · 29/03/2015 15:38

MFP worked wonders for me.

I had porrisge for breakfast, small soup for lunch and then the same dinner as DH (not unhealthy but not particularly diet either, sometimes pasta etc) which I found really workable.

I also did spinning twice awake which I think is amazing.

I was an absolute babe.

But that was when I was working full time and it was much easier as I could focus on myself sort of in the day. I'm on Mat leave now and just eat what I can when I can which is rarely that healthy.

Imeanlikeseriously · 29/03/2015 15:39

That was doing 1200 cals a day I think as my job wasn't particularly active.

GinnelsandWhippets · 29/03/2015 16:42

Yes I need to keep to 1200 call. Much easier if you do some exercise so you can eat a bit more. That's my downfall! Will have to dig out my shred dvd again.

I'm 5'4 and 11 stone 3. I'm aiming to loose a stone or a little more (target is 10 stone) before I go on hols mid June. I've joined Slimming World and so far finding it fairly easy to stick to and I lost 3lb in the first week.
I've tried low carbing, 5:2 etc but just got so hungry! SW is easier

BIWI · 29/03/2015 16:54

If you were hungry when you were low carbing, then you weren't doing it properly!

gamerchick · 29/03/2015 16:59

Well I'm not dieting but I've been doing that davina 7 minute fit for the past 5 weeks 5 days a week and my knickers and favourite trousers keep falling down Angry . Haven't weighed myself though but smaller clothes are starting to fit comfortably.

Might be better than dieting.

Branleuse · 29/03/2015 17:03

i recommend doing mfp and the 30 day shred dvd (its also on YouTube) most days if not every day

ihatethecold · 29/03/2015 18:45

30 day shred injured my lower back 3 years ago. It's still not better. Sad

Branleuse · 29/03/2015 19:43

thats not good, im sorry to hear about your back, but in fairness, i hurt my knee running once and did my hip in from swimming breaststroke.
Any exercise can injure you if youre not careful and dont have good form.

GinnelsandWhippets · 29/03/2015 22:20

Hmm I may have to get the 7 minute fit dvd, i do like davina ??. I think I'm going to try 5:2 combined with 16:8 on non-fast days and we'll see how I get on. Was thinking about low carbing as I have done that before and enjoyed it, but it's just not realistic right now - i just can't trust myself not to have a biscuit at toddler group or a glass of wine after work. Now I need to come up with some super-filling low calorie meal ideas for fasting days!

Just found this thread. I have til first week of June to lose 11lbs (going from 10st to 9st3lbs). I'm doing MFP and it's telling me to eat 1200 a day. Gah, Easter weekend - cinema trip, friend's house for lunch, MiL tomorrow, Eggs etc....

GinnelsandWhippets · 05/04/2015 15:31

Hiya, sounds like we have similar goals weight wise. I am doing 5:2 as it seems easier than being really strict every day, although I am being careful on non fast days. Going well so far - weigh in tomorrow so ee'll see how much good the first week has done!

Can I join! We have virtually the same stats although I am 5'6 and a pound heavier Grin

AddToBasket · 06/04/2015 11:24

Weighed in this morning and after yesterday's Easter lunch I have still managed to lose 0.2lb! OK, I know that's really just a pee Grin but I'll take it.

10.4lbs to go.
