100 Healthy Days - anyone care to join me?

I have just got back from a skiing holiday and have not weighed myself yet but can feel that I've put on a lot of weight. Despite that I feel much fitter because I was swimming a lot most days as well as skiing loads so I want to preserve that feeling whilst shedding some weight. I totally hate my body image right now and that is affecting me in other ways as well so something needs to change.

I want to do it gradually and without any faddy stuff just by living more healthily. So, no processed foods, only home made healthy stuff, doing some exercise every day (although I hurt my knee skiing so I'm not sure what I can do on that front for at least a week) and reducing alcohol to one or two units a week, if that.

I have a big party to go to in early May and and even bigger one in June. I'm a size 10 / 12 at the moment and want to be a size 8 (I'm only 5'3"). But it's not just about weight loss, it's about general well-being. So, for that reason I'm going to try not to focus on pounds lost just how things are fitting. If you want to do it by numbers though that is fine too.

Day one to start tomorrow and onwards until 11th May or thereabouts.

I have tried to join in on group weight loss threads on MN before but no joy -not sure why. I'm hoping that this one will work for me - I need all the support I can get because I have no will power and work somewhere where there are loads of chocs and biscuits. I'm hoping a targeted time (i.e. the 100 days) plus a daily log in will help momentum. Plus, there are a load of similar blogs etc online that can help with ideas and inspiration - here's the one I found: [[http://www.100-healthy-days.com/original-blog/ 100 Healthy Days)

Anyone else care to join me?

Hello, I know you said no faddy stiff but if you don't mind me eating paleo, could I join you? I do much better with a target too!

Pennies · 22/02/2015 07:30

I certainly don't mind if you do that. I'm guessing that most of what I eat will be along the paleo lines. In the 100 Happy Days blog she does 80/20.

That looks like a fair fit then - I obviously don't think that paleo is faddy and it's done very well for me so far, but I know lots of people think it is just another craze. For me it's about eating a balanced, nutrient dense diet that keeps my blood sugar balanced, my energy levels constant, my migraines away and my weight down!

I guess I'm planning a kind of paleo approach. Trying to reduce the carbs generally.

Anyone else up for it?

There's a Whole 30 chat thread in this section where people only have 5 days left - perhaps you could invite them to come over here when they've finished? Or do a bit of a recruit in _chat? I'm sure there are others who will be interested.

My plan is to largely follow the primal blueprint guidelines: eat well, lots of walking, short sprints every 7-10 days, start doing some body weight exercises (pilates DVD), get more sleep, get outside every day, play more and practice mindfulness daily.

Had a good start this morning after a proper day off yesterday- scrambled eggs in ghee with black coffee for breakfast followed by a brisk 15 min walk to the station paying attention to nature and the first signs of spring.

My main struggle will be with sleep because my two year old doesn't Hmm. Five broken hours last night - not good at all!

Wow hard to believe you've put on weight on such an active holiday. I do believe you ..honest;-)

I've been skiing and it really takes it out of you and then you went swimming as well. Great respect for you.

Ps... I couldn't commit to a hundred days. One at a time is about all I can cope with ;-)
