Carboholics Anonymous Week 2

I'm probably not the best advert for this diet as I've only managed to lose 2 lbs this week.

Basically had a very rare night out on Saturday which involved a trip to a thai restaurant, and a bottle of fruit wine.

Hows everyone else done?

Well done that strawberry. I think I shall have to try incorporating lemon drizzle cake into this diet. Still on effing plateau here. Will probably be saying that in 3 weeks time still.

Crotchety - maybe if I pass on my infection(s) to you you'll move off the plateau? I mean, I've managed to lose more this week than in the last 4 weeks! However, the weekend looms, full of temptation and trips to salubrious supermarkets laden with carb ridden aisles - Yikes!

Are you exercising at all? That could be the boost that you need.

Crotchety · 26/10/2006 17:22

Emotional - very kind offer...I've probably have just picked up something nasty anyway having heroically taken the kids swimming - how I HATE those scummy changing rooms. Bleurgh.

Exercise - you are probably right on that score - the only exercise I get is the walk to work from Euston and back three times a week - about a mile each time. I honestly don't know what else to do about that - no convenient time and certainly no inclination for gym or classes.

Oh well - off to recover with a cup of tea and (whisper) an Atkins choc bar...Glad you are feeling vaguely human again!

Tortington · 26/10/2006 18:40

Crotchety - know it might seem a bit crazy, but if you have freeview or sky, put one of the music channels on and dance your tats off for twenty minutes (make sure the living room curtains are closed!)

Custy - hope you feel better soon. Try the GL diet by Nigel Denby. A lot less restrictive than Atkins. Good luck petal!

Morning all

All going well here. Not exercising enough but sticking to the plan.

Had a yummy tea last night, pork cut up into strips then stir fried w/garlic. I then added small brocc florets, sliced red pepper, sp. onions and courgettes. Then added shed loads of freshly ground black pepper and some creme fraiche. Absolutely gorgeous.

Have been sticking w/ scrambled eggs and smoked ham for breakfast, w/ maybe a couple of mushrooms fried in butter w/ garlic.

Lunch has either been a feta salad w/ lemon juice/home made vinaigrette or just some cooked meat grabbed on the run as I'm not tending to eat breakfast until 10 -11.30ish.

Could do with drinking more water though I am managing at least 2lt a day plus tea/decaf coffee.

Tbh I am craving fruit and more veg (I love home made soups) and when dh made some toast and jam last night I had to leave the room, but am absolutely determind that I will lose another half - one stone before Christmas.

Don't want to talk about it OK?

It's half term. Nuff said.....

oxocube · 27/10/2006 12:06

I just tried to join on the old thread (thank you Frogdelalune!!). This is my first day ever of trying a low carb/Atkins type diet. Only want to lose about 3 kg but am convinced its the carbs which make me bloat - all my weight seems to be on my stomach making me look 3 months pregnant . I adore bread, bagels, crumpets etc and don't usually eat much meat but do eat fish, cheese, veggies and pulses. Am also keeping a food diary as am a notorious 'picker'!

joelallie · 27/10/2006 12:59

Aha! Oxocube you sound like an excellent candidate. I was a carbaholic too - ate v little protein, loads of starch and sugar, always hungry and picking. Atkins sorted that out for me.

What am I saying 'was'??? Things have slipped big time atm and I'm bloated and have terrible indigestion from all the bread. But I will be back.

Good luck

oxocube · 27/10/2006 13:06

funny thing is sugar doesn't really bother me although I realise there are lots of hidden sugars in processed foods. I never crave cake or chocolate, even though its always in the house - in fact, I'm making a 'toffee apple pudding' for the kids tonight and I know I won't eat any of it, but I could quite happily eat a whole baguette, tons of cheese scones, soda bread, toasted and dripping with butter . I know my demons! Didn't realise that avocado wasn't on the list of induction foods though and have just eaten a whole one with feta for lunch . Cheese omlette and salad for dinner.

joelallie · 27/10/2006 13:17

Avocado is one of the extra permitted on Atkins induction I beleive. Along with olives and cream. So don't fret.

oxocube · 27/10/2006 13:55

thank you

Strawb - execute emergency shift to Clarke Plan -bread OK on that!!
Hello Oxocube - welcome to the (no cake ) party!
I thought you'd gone a bit quiet, Joelallie...
Maybe it hasn't been the most successful group induction in the history of Atkins, but hey so what!

oxocube · 27/10/2006 17:18

Hi Crotchety and thanks for the welcome .

physicalandemotionalwreck · 27/10/2006 17:18

Ok - in a bridget jones type stylee........

Went Morrisons with DP - he bought box of 5 jam dougnuts. He ate 4. I ate 1. Now hate myself but have consoled self with fact that am not on my own. No more carbs in house.

Have willpower of a drunk in a kebab house.

Pass me lemon drizzle cake....

It was yummy but I was embarrassed when I went to pick up my LO and my childminder pointed out I had sugar all around my chops!

Frogdelalune · 27/10/2006 20:38

tsk tsk

Am seriously considering partaking of the alcoholic grape juice this evening. Spent all day tidying up then dd trashes the place in 10 mins flat. I might as well have not bothered getting up this morning..... sigh
