Carboholics Anonymous Week 2

I'm probably not the best advert for this diet as I've only managed to lose 2 lbs this week.

Basically had a very rare night out on Saturday which involved a trip to a thai restaurant, and a bottle of fruit wine.

Hows everyone else done?

What about curry (no rice obviously...)? With say salad? One of the staples of my low carb diet...

Not much weight loss here recently but I am currently swanning about in my "test skirt" which looked dreadful on me a month ago!

Sorry you're feeling poorly

I only went and had a bottle of wine last night didn't I , apart from that I'm doing well though

7.30am - cup of de-caff coffee w/ splenda and cream
breakfast - scrambled eggs, 2 slices smoked ham, 2 mushrooms fried in butter with chopped garlic
lunch - didn't have any as it was midday before I realised that I'd not yet had breakfast
supper - 2 lamb chops w/ cabbage, broccoli and 2 sp. onions, cup of tea w/ splenda and soya milk.

I'm off to watch a film now so will have lots of water and some cheese. Have a good evening. Hope you feel better soon emotional

I'm not even going to tell you what I've eaten today - I'd be excommunicated (or something)

But thanks for the virtual marmalade Froggy xxx

You know you're not well when you're on MN at this time in the morning.

Ok strawb, I had 3 pieces of white bread
2 pieces of granary bread
chinese beef curry with half rice and chips

There's not a lot of carb in that is there?

physicalandemotionalwreck · 25/10/2006 08:26

Think next weeks thread should be called carboholics confessional

ItsthaWEREwooluff · 25/10/2006 08:33

I know I'm late to the party but can I join please? I did really well on Atkins a couple of years ago, but the siren song of the bread [let alone a whole cherry cake I ate on Monday] was just too much for me and now I'm a lardy lump again.

Are there any other good Atkinsy threads I should be watching?

physicalandemotionalwreck · 25/10/2006 08:36

I think I can blow everyones trumpet here and say that this the best, most current thread for low carbers. Although, it has to be said we've all spent some time off the wagon (as you can no doubt read!)

Anyway, welcome! We've been weighing in on a Monday and starting a new thread each week

Crotchety · 25/10/2006 08:37

Then people really will keep saying they thought it was a catholic thread! I think low carb is hard to do when you're feeling rough - not a huge element of comfort eating in a few olives or a stick of celery.

But everyone seems to be going in the right direction despite all the lemon drizzle cake and bottles of wine. Me I'm stuck on a sodding plateau already.Going to try a very strict day today and try to remember the water bit. Left to my own devices I'd rather not be sloshing down litres and litres of it...

Crotchety · 25/10/2006 08:41

Hello werewoluff! That's exactly the position I was in when I found these threads a few weeks ago. We're all attempting week 2 of induction here (sort of) but it's a kind of creative version...

Frogdelalune · 25/10/2006 08:53

Morning all, and a big carb free welcome to ItsthaWEREwooluff

Emotional I hope you used an antiseptic wipe before blowing my trumpet

Crotchety I too will be concentrating on the water today. I have trouble getting through it when it's cold and wet outside. I just want warm drinks. I'll have to get the fires going and try to create a sauna type effect in here. I find it easier to glug cold sparkling water than still water.

Strawb are you back on track today then ?

Frogdelalune · 25/10/2006 08:55

Sorry emotional , forgot to ask how you are feeling ?

Thanks crotchety, strawb and froggy.

Not really feeling any better (which is unusual for me and my robust immune system). However, on the plus side I've only eaten low carb today, and I coughed something up that looked like it could have been low carb - TMI, sorry.

Strawb, I make huge omlettes with a variety of fillings, but I always put peppers, spring onions and mushrooms in. I quite often slice one of those huge mattesons smoked sausages up for any easy tea (only 1.5g carb in whole shlong). I bet you could make a really yummy one with prawns!

Crotchety · 25/10/2006 16:14

Wot I eat :
Salads with feta/tuna/pilchards/ham/cold meat leftover from Sunday etc. Not quite so keen on mackerel although do sometimes eat those peppered ones.

Stir fry mixes from Tesco (not whole packet) with an egg or two thrown in like a spanish omelette kind of thing. And omelettes in general.

Butchers sausages, tinned corned beef. If not with salad then with fried cabbage or runner beans or broccoli. Actually cabbage features quite a lot in my diet (parp) as I have shredded cabbage (cooked) with curry instead of rice quite a lot. And something DH and I are very keen on with sausages is red cabbage, shredded and fried for ages with red onion until soft, with some dried chillis and peppercorns, maybe also cloves. At the last minute you chuck in some wine vinegar which makes it go all purple and blue. Good kick to it - great for the sinuses! (am waiting for sinus operation )

My breakfast staple is frozen blueberries defrosted with dollop of Total greek yoghurt, but that's not particularly cheap sadly. If I'm not being strict I also throw in a handful of porridge oats.

For lunch if I'm working in London I quite often get a Subway tuna wrap stuffed with salad (£2.20) - forget how many carbs they claim are in it but it's suitably low.

Blimey that was long!

Yep - frozen blueberries are the business and thankfully back in tescos and waitrose after a worrying absence recently (bit obsessed about this). You could also have full fat cream cheese on your celery for a change.

Chocolate fingers can last quite a while if you......... I mean, ahem!

I too have lost more weight but think that has probably been due to muscle wastage from lying in bed for three days. Feeling loads better today. Have been a very good girl with alcohol this week too which makes a huge difference I think.

Well done on the tight trousers situation strawb - I salute you!
