Why am I not loosing weight?

I have a stone to loose. Last month I have:

Cut out most alcohol,
Cut out bread, pasta, biscuits, crisps and crap generally
Have protein smoothly for breakfast, soup for lunch, healthy high protein low carb dinner
Have been doing exercise 3-4 times a week (good mixture of spin, strength, etc).

Probably been eating between 1200-1500 calories per day, all if which are good calories.

Not lost an ounce. Hmm

Any ideas? This is a constant problem with me.

Fatty, oh yes, that happened to me, too. I'd even started marathon training. Went for a checkup to see if I should embark on such a strenuous programme, and Doc said, "Er, you DO know you're about twenty weeks' pregnant, right?" Grin

Assuming your portions are reasonable another factor is fluid retention, it can cause quite big fluctuation in weight for example around my period and ovulation I often get a 3-5lb weight gain...eating more carbs than normal will cause a 3lb gain in fluid retention too, but there are many other reasons why your body will retain fluid, there is even a suggestion that fat cells sometimes initially fill with water after they empty of fat, so try not to be disheartened.
Eating too little/starvation mode and muscle weighing more than carbs as reasons for lack of weight loss are sadly myths - I wish they weren't!

I was only 6 weeks but I hadnt lost any weight in about 4 weeks and did a pee stick just to rule it out before going to the doc...didn't think i would be as we were using condoms but im now 17+6 with number 3 Grin

Not pg no, thankfully :). Congratulations though.

I am actually glad to see starvation mode and muscle are both myths because it helps focus on what needs to be done.

I have been much more diligent about portion sizes this week, have stuck to 1200 calories regardless of exercise and allowed myself 1500 on Saturday. I have lost 1lb this week so am delighted. I have to accept that weight loss is going to be slow and that 1200 calories is less food than I thought!!
