What did you have for breakfast?

I need some inspiration! I'm a vegetarian and I'm not overly keen on porridge (without a mass of sugar) which seems to be the go to healthy breakfast.
So can anyone give me some ideas? What did you have this morning?

I normally rotate between porridge/granola, almond milk & fruit/scrambled eggs on toast.

womanhasbaby · 05/02/2015 12:07

Today I had 2 eggs fried in fry light on a piece of wholemeal toast with half an avocado.
Yesterday I have Greek yogurt with granola, berries and a drizzle of honey

DeanKoontz · 05/02/2015 12:10

I've been having a slice of wholemeal toast with peanut butter and a banana. No banana today, so I had an apple (separately, not on it).

and a cup of tea. (my one and only for the day)

Lasts me till well into the afternoon if I need to go that long.

one avocado lashed with one tablespoon of gluten free pesto, spread on four rice cakes, top with rocket and sliced tomatoes - super yummy - been on this for about two weeks - fills me up to lunch much better than porridge which always left me needing to eat at about 11am - The avocado/pesto/rice cake keeps me going 6:45 till about 1pm

plumstone · 05/02/2015 12:25
  • mashed not lashed!!!!!
pootlebug · 05/02/2015 12:31

A smoothie made with coconut cream, an egg, and frozen berries.

ATeaPleaseBob · 05/02/2015 12:57

Porridge. I didn't like the taste (or texture) to start with, but persevered with it and started to like it after about two weeks.

Plain porridge tastes sweet to me now, so I don't need to add anything.

Purplehonesty · 05/02/2015 13:05

I had a banana. Then an apple and grapes at 11 as I was starving!

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 05/02/2015 13:08

Banana is full of sugar, apple slughtky less so, so the insulin jumps up and you're craving sugar again. Grapes are even worse.

TalkinPeace · 05/02/2015 13:42

Tea.

I do not eat breakfast. Never have since I was 15.

Runningupthathill82 · 05/02/2015 14:31

Two Quorn sausages in an oven-bottom roll, plus coffee. Not the healthiest - I usually avoid white carbs - but was delicious!

m0therofdragons · 05/02/2015 14:34

Yoghurt, with a little bit of granola and some blueberries to snack on. Plus 2 coffees through the morning.

Tigerblue · 05/02/2015 14:36

Not on a diet here, but started day off with glass of water, herbal tea and then shredded wheat with half teaspoon sugar. Tend to vary my cereal, sometimes it's Shreddies or museli.

CMP69 · 05/02/2015 14:39

I like my porridge sweetened and I find a little bit of maple syrup does the trick. You could try that
I usually have granola or Dorset Cereals museli with semi skimmed milk or toast and cottage cheese

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 05/02/2015 14:41

Three egg omelette with cherry tomatoes and spring onions (and three bacn medallions but realise they are no good for you). Im doing SW and am never hungry!

Guadalupe · 05/02/2015 15:19

Chopped fruit with plain yoghurt, flaked almonds and ground flax.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 05/02/2015 16:24

Why are bacon medallions not hood for you?

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 05/02/2015 16:28

No I meant no good for OP as she is a vegetarian

MelanieCheeks · 05/02/2015 16:34

I ring the changes between:

1 slice toast (I keep a loaf of Burgen in the freezer) topped with peanut/ almond butter and a smear of jam, marmite and cottage cheese, avocado, humous, or ham and tomatoes.

2 eggs, or one whole and one white, scrambled in the microwave with mushrooms, spinach, toms, sometimes a little blue cheese.

Yoghurt with berries and flaxseed.

Overnight oats - porridge soaked in milk/ juice/ yoghurt overnight, and then fruit and nuts and seeds added to it.

Boiled egg with marmite soldiers

Smoked salmon

Porridge, often with frozen berries stirred in half way through cooking.

MagpieCursedTea · 05/02/2015 17:14

Some great ideas! I like the idea of using avocado in with my breakfast, never would've thought of that.
Thanks everyone Smile

More brunch than breakfast....home made bean and veg soup with ham hock and greek yoghurt.

StrikesMatches · 05/02/2015 21:01

I had a late breakfast of mushrooms on toast. It was gorgeous. I usually have banana on toast and if I'm having a bad morning, I throw on a bit of nutella.

applecatchers36 · 05/02/2015 21:06

Slice of tea bread and half a bannana and a cup of tea pretty usual

Sometimes I have plain Greek yoghurt & fruit (alternate between blueberries/ bannana/ strawberries/ raspberries)

At weekends maybe scrambled egg on wholemeal toast with smoked salmon

Dowser · 06/02/2015 09:04

Every day I have 2 organic egg omelette with onion, because I eat 14 eggs a week I always have organic. It's a nice meaty start to the day and avoids that sugar spike you get with carbs.

Then I have my green buggery juice for lunch because I hate it.

After that it's protein veg and a bit of carb for supper.

wfrances · 06/02/2015 12:14

cup of tea
2 slices of toasted fruit loaf and butter.
