I know sizing is not an exact science but I wondered what women actually weighed at those sizess. I'm much bigger and wanted to kno roughly how much I had to lose. I've looked up bmi charts too.

Thanks

5'8" 70-71kg and a size 12.

Fierceflora · 20/01/2015 16:47

Oh god. I'm size 16/18 and weigh 14stone Blush

tabulahrasa · 20/01/2015 16:48

12 st 6 and a 14, It takes 2 stone for me to go up or down a clothes size.

Fierceflora · 20/01/2015 16:48

Ps I am overweight though, I lost weight on ww a couple years ago and at just under 12stone I could squeeze into a 12 but was prob more a small 14 x

Pickforme · 20/01/2015 16:48

I'm 5' 7" and am at my heaviest ever at the moment at 13st 9lb. My top half I'm a size 12/14 but bottom half is a 16/18. Probably not a lot of help since I'm so unbalanced.

Jackieharris · 20/01/2015 16:48

Size 18, 15st

reup · 20/01/2015 16:49

I have mentally ruled our being a 12 but having just looked up the bmi gingingin you are in the ideal range!

5'8 and I wear a small 14 and a 34E bra, I'm 12 stone at the moment.

loiner45 · 20/01/2015 16:55

5'8" - 10 stone ATM (post Xmas Blush ) but usually 9.7 - when at that weight I'm 12 top and 10 bottom.

Schoolaroundthecorner · 20/01/2015 16:58

At 11 stone (a long time ago......) I was a 12. At 12.5 stone a size 14.

ToomuchIsBackOnBootcamp · 20/01/2015 17:01

5'8" here too reporting in. When I'm at my normal weight of between 10 and a half and 11 stones I'm a comfortable 12. Once I reach about 11 and a half stones, the 12s feel tight and some 14s feel more comfy. Hence my name of being back on LC bootcamp!

RandallFloyd · 20/01/2015 17:04

At 15 stone I was a size 16.
At 9 1/2 I'm an 8/10.

So size 12 would probably have probably been about 10-11 stone ish for me.

Good luck!

Lizaa · 20/01/2015 17:05

11 stone 4 and I am a pretty standard 14 in most shops.
I am quite unfit though so I expect if I built some muscle I would actually be heavier but maybe still a 14.

MissYamabuki · 20/01/2015 17:06

5'8" size 14 and 12st 6lb which I believe makes me overweight.

Pre-children I was 10st and a size 10 (or rather 8-10 at the top and 10-12 at the bottom). Will get on to it one of these days....

tabulahrasa · 20/01/2015 17:08

I'm a size 12 at about 10 and a half stone, which is about bang in the middle of a healthy BMI.

HappyAsASandboy · 20/01/2015 17:13

I'm marginally under 5' 8'' and fluctuate between 12 stone and 12 stone 7lb.

At 12 stone I'm a comfortable size 14, and at 12 stone 7lb I am a squeezed size 14 Blush

OnIlkleyMoorBahTwat · 20/01/2015 17:14

I'm a 14 but with a size 10/12 waist. I weigh about 11 stone 9.

How happy and healthy you are with your weight can depend on how you carry it - I'm quite toned and have a small waist so feel pretty good, although I would like to lose about 10 pounds because I have a lot of clothes that are just a bit too small.

Plenty of size 14/16s have a lot of excess fat around their waists so feel 'fatter' at a similar size/weight IYSWIM?

I would focus on eating as well as possible (unprocessed healthy food, not heavily processed 'diet' food where fat has been replaced with sugar or artificial ingredients) and try and do regular exercise even if it is just gentle walking/swimming/playing with DCs.

Monitor your body measurements/body fat percentage (you can get cheap little devices or scales to do this) rather than just your weight.

Good luck!

Currently 13st 5 (attempting to address) and a 14/16, depending on brand. More likely 14 on top, 16 bottoms, but M&S 14 trousers are fine. Was about 12st and a comfortable 14 sometimes a 12 a year or two ago. Fascinating to see the replies above and my main conclusion would be amazement at how much size/weight varies. I can't believe loiner is 4 st lighter than me and only one dress size less on top! So from that, OP, I think you can take it that this can only ever be a v rough guide. Good luck.

acrabadabra · 20/01/2015 17:16

Pre dc's I was a size 16 at 13 stone. An 18 at 14 stone. A 20 at 16 stone. I'm unlikely to see any of those sizes again Blush

SinglePringle · 20/01/2015 17:17

5'8 10 stone, size 10-12 (medium in places like Zara).

I've been this weight for 5 years.

Previously, I was 13 stone 12 and was a tight size 16 but it was beginning to be apparent that I needed to go up to an 18. It's what spurred me on to lose the weight.

NotCitrus · 20/01/2015 17:20

5'8" and now about 12 1/2 stone (80kg?) and size 16 (or 14 if tops allow for a 32H bust, 18 if trousers can't cope with a high waist and postnatal tummy). BMI of 26, anyway.
I was around 14 stone 18 months ago and a size 18 was getting tight.

It would be nice to lose another stone this year but managing to stay functional health-wise is my main target.

Silverjohnleggedit · 20/01/2015 18:03

I'm 5ft 8.5. When I'm a Size 14-16, I weigh 11stone 4lbs.

tomatoplantproject · 20/01/2015 18:09

I'm 5'8.5" and at 11st10 almost a 12 - if I lose another half stone I will easily be there. I seem to be about a stone per dress size (at my biggest size 16 and about 13st).

reup · 20/01/2015 18:14

Wow, thank you all so much. It really varies doesnt it? Year ago I had a healthy weight chart and that told you to measure your wrist and it said sort of build you are. Probably not very accurate but I've always had big wrists and its not all flesh!

I've been on a diet since January - trying a "retro" low fat one. (Have done pretty much every type of diet). I was trying to think of some goals re clothes etc. I lost 3 stone 3 yrs ago and then spent the next 3 putting it back on. Have a big chest of clothes I kept. Am at the gym too and eating lots of veg (am sick of peeling and chopping)!
