I have been overweight since having my first child now nearly 10 years ago. Two more kids later, I don;t want this to be my permanent state. I'm in my 40s and want the excess shifted (and just generally to be a lot fitter) before the menopause kicks in.

If you have shifted 2 stones plus, how did you do it? How long did it take? Have you kept it off?

I've lost around four stones over two years with low carb, low sugar eating, and increased exercise. I've changed my way of eating completely so when a bit creeps back on, I can get it back off fairly easily. I need to lose another two stone to be at a truly healthy weight (although I am now BMI around 25/26) but am currently pregnant so have eased up a bit for a while.

My weight loss always seem insurmountable and it was only when I finally managed to stop thinking of the whole amount and just take it half a stone at a time that I managed to commit properly. Good luck.

I lost three stone 14 years ago with WW - it took 6 months and was hard work.
Over the following 10 years I put 1 stone back on
which I lost in 12 weeks with 5:2
and I've been at happy weight using 5:2 for over 2 years now

I lost 5st in about a year. I stopped snacking, only had pizza once a month, swopped fried chips for oven and grilled things like bacon.

I also had stir fry for dinner most days as you can put loads of veg in and they're low calorie if you're careful what sauce you put in it.

I also found not eating till lunchtime made it much easier to stop snacking.

I kept the weight off for three years but have put 2st back on since having four dcs in four years. I stopped eating properly and went back to snacking and grabbing chocolate for a quick energy boost.

I've started to watch what I eat again and have lost nearly half a stone. I want to lose the other 1.5st and another 2 which I'd been aiming for when I found out I was pregnant.

I also started walking to college and back every day which was about 4.5 miles with my heavy bookbag.

I've lost three stone over the last year simply by eating less. I admit I still don't eat healthily, as I still eat all the things I ate before - just less. I try to stick to between 1200-1800 calories a day. I use My Fitness Pal to track how many calories I've eaten.

7 stone slowly over 2 years with MFP. Don't use their default calorie levels.

Weight Watchers, twice. First time in my 20s, lost 65 lb. It took me (IIRC) 8 months. Second time, in my 50s, lost 40 lb. Took me damn near a year. Weight just doesn't come off as fast the older you get.

I've lost 10 kilos since September by low carbing. I need to lose another 6 plus the 2 I put on over Christmas so I started again yesterday. I find it easier to have things I can and can't eat rather than trying to eat in moderation. I didn't really do much exercise but I do have a pretty active lifestyle. My new regime will include exercise (yesterday I went for a 5km power walk)
Good luck! :)

I have lost 2 stone since having a fitbit and doing at least 10,000 steps a day . Somedays much more. Just feeling fitter and better about myself helps me to make better food choices too. Weight is staying off !
Good luck , you can do it
