Nice shiny new thread ...

You LOLed at my pain, hub. How could you? You're not exactly alone, it has to be said, kept getting grins from people at work (once they knew the reason).

WigWamBam · 18/10/2006 16:15

Doesn't the gelatine in yummy puddings just hack you off, Hub? Sometimes I think ignorance would be bliss ... although I know it's not really. You wouldn't think it would be difficult to use a veggie alternative so that everyone could eat the stuff (one of my bugbears, this).

Jackie, I only lol-ed a little bit ... Hope it's not too sore once you get the feeling back again.

CT, is everything OK?

Imight write to the restaurant, WWB (it was a very fancy place) as it would be nice to be inclusive.

Sorry, Jackieno. Evil of me. I just have this little sketch:

Dentist: "You won't feel your lip properly for a while, careful not to bite it."

JackieNo:

The End.

I had a filling done a few weeks ago... you spend the next x hours sucking your lip thinking "odd odd odd"

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 18/10/2006 16:22

Pretty accurate, except for the yelp, as I didn't actually feel it so I didn't know I'd done anything until I saw the blood on my ciabatta (ponce, moi?). Sorry - TMI, I know.

WigWamBam · 18/10/2006 16:31

Jackie ... how long has ciabatta been poncey??

Hub, Dh was doing some work for St Ivel a few years ago, and I asked him to rant on my behalf about the fact that all of their desserts and all of the ones they make to be labelled up as supermarkets' own brands contained gelatine. They were surprised to learn (!) that veggies actually look at the labels of such things - they seemed to think that as long as there wasn't actually a great lump of steak sticking out of the thing then it wouldn't bother most veggies that it contained gelatine. I put them right and a lot more of their products are suitable for veggies these days.

I blame the Italians.

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 18/10/2006 16:35

Well it's a bit more poncey than my usual sandwich, that's all. And it was a spinach ciabatta. I do look like I've had really unsuccessful collagen injections.

hub2dee · 18/10/2006 16:37

Wow, the food industry must be run by really clever people then, eh, wwb. Well done on their education / submission. I do recall several years back never seeing a veggie fruit fool. Nowadays it is possible to find them.

I mean, I think even if I ate meat I'd think that a bit of pig's trotter in a rhubarb fool was just plain stupid and slightly yuck.

WigWamBam · 18/10/2006 16:41

Absolute geniuses.

I knew a veggie once though who wouldn't even sit at the same table as a meat-eater, but who would eat sweets with gelatine in - when I refused some once she laughed at me and said she couldn't see a burger in the packet and what was I on about.

hub2dee · 18/10/2006 16:43

pmsl. Did she work in the food industry then ?

LOL LOL

scarysuejonez · 18/10/2006 17:34

I love the idea of steak yoghurt!

WWB how could I have missed your 5lb how lovely even if you aren't entirely sure how it happened. I did actually manage to get to Boots and have stayed the same which is as good as I can expect at the moment as my mum keeps draggin me out to eat to cheer me up! Going out again tonight then again tomorrow for an MN meet up. Is there no hope for me.

Jackie - I didn't laugh about your misfortune, no not one little bit

lemonAIIEEE · 18/10/2006 17:35

I lost 2.5lb this week (will email it in when I get a chance). And when I lose another pound I will weigh less than I did when I got pregnant with DS. Hurrah! Mind you, now the serious work begins as I had a lot of weight to lose at that point...

Dottydot · 18/10/2006 17:51

WWB - fantastic result!!!!

lemonAIIEEE · 18/10/2006 18:06

Congrats WWB -- I missed that the first time through trying to catch up on the thread!

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 18/10/2006 18:18

Oi - all those who are laughing at me...

I dribble in your general direction

Fauve · 18/10/2006 19:37

Don't you dribble at me, JackieNo Well done, WWB!

I'm getting a bit bored with the slowness again - 1lb off this week (hooray), but I feel like I'm on the frontline in the First World War, back and forth over the same sodding ground. I know, I know, it's all in the right direction - but shouldn't my muscles be furious little furnaces of calorie burning by now?

WigWamBam · 19/10/2006 09:30

OK - so here's what I've got:

DottyDot: -2.5lb (total 10lb)
Fauve: -1lb (total 13lb)
Flutterbee: stayed the same (total 22lb)
JackieNo: -0.5lb (total 28.5lb)
Lemonaid: -2.5lb (total 18.5lb)
LittleMissSensible: -1lb (total 1lb)
suejonez: stayed the same (total 13lb)
TitianRed: +1lb (total 15lb)
Violeteyes: -2.5lb (total 2.5lb)
Whoopsie: -4lb (total 23lb)
WWB: -5lb (total 22lb)

That's a really good week, well done everyone. The crown goes to ... well ... me (tries not to get too excisted) but I think Whoopsie deserves a little one too.
