Anyone up for new chat weight loss thread?

I've been looking through other chat threads, which have all seemed really awesome, but most of them seem to have been started many months ago with people who have pretty much reached their target.

So whether you're looking to lose less than me or a whole lot more, it would be lovely to have some fellow last minute dieters for some moral support! Especially over Christmas!!!!!

I am getting married in just over 10 weeks, but have apparently completely ignored my desire to lose weight until now. The last minute. Urgh.

I'm looking to lose 3kg, or around 6lbs for those in imperial. Ideally it would be more like 4kg, but I don't think it's going to be possible in the time frame I have.

My main failing is a complete and utter lack of exercise. I have a lot of motivation in the summer, but in winter it's just so cold the motivation gets used to try and heat up my quivering frame. Apparently my body prefers to use motivation as a fuel rather than the fat on my arse Grin

That, and wine.

Anyone?

Red its going good. Only a couple of days in but am eating significantly less but really enjoying my food. Listening to the CDs and reading the books helps me keep focused.
Happygirl hope Saturday goes well for you. You will look amazing because you are the bride Smile

kaykayblue · 18/12/2014 10:44

happygirl - congratulations!! I'm sure you will look absolutely stunning, and bugger the half a stone. No point starving yourself just to pass out walking down the aisle!

Enlli - do you mean Paul McKenna like...the hypnotist? I didn't know he had released any weight loss stuff for ages. Good luck! Do you just sleep listening to him telling you "YOU'RE NOT HUNGRY!! YOU LOVE SALAD!! YOU FRIKKIN' LOVE IT!!"?

Red - Well done on the weigh in! Even if you have quite a bit you want to lose, on the bright side, hopefully that means in the first few weeks you should be dropping pounds like no-one's business, which would be really motivating.

On my side, I did go out last night, but I was the only one not drinking polishes halo. I had two diet cokes. For the second drink I did hesitate and think "well, I could just have one glass..." but then thought of you guys and realised if I can't even follow the daily challenge, when I set the bastard, why would anyone else?!?!?

So yesterday was no wine and no chocolate. The down fall were the cheese toasts which were the only food available at the bar. I had four slices, but they were small. If not cheesy.

I think I still squeaked in at around 1200-1300 calories for the day though.

By the way, if anyone would like to choose a challenge for the day then go ahead! If not, I'll pick another one a little bit later :)

happygirl Congratulations!! Have a wonderful wedding Smile

Well done kaykay on completing ur challenge.

How's everyone getting on today??
I've managed to resist all the boxes of chocies that have been shoved under my nose at work. I'm really craving a sugary tea tho but managing to stick to green.

If anyone is up for an exercise challenge how about 20 squats and 20 lunges on top of ur own exercise goals for the day??

kaykayblue · 18/12/2014 17:22

Ooo I like that challenge idea! Huge congrats on avoiding the chocolates at work. That is HARD. Especially if it's been a stressful day....

If you fancy sweet tea, sometimes camomile can really do the trick. No idea why, but it just tastes sweeter than most herbal teas. Otherwise maybe get some sweetner tablets? I really prefer coffee with sugar, but figured it was an easy way to cut calories, so I've been using sweetner. It tastes a bit different but it does the job.

I've been so busy working my way through the veritable MOUNTAIN of laundry that I have barely eaten today, and I'm not feeling great for it tbh. I've carted three heavy bags of wet clothes to the dryer though, and spent twenty minutes hand wringing every item out. HELL.

I've had..er...two pieces of toast with one fried egg (is there any way to make fried eggs healthy?? I frikkin love them). Coffee with semi skim milk and sweetner. Two dark chocolate truffles (I know....), and I'm on a can of apple juice.

Now I've sat down I've realised I'm starved, but have to pop out to buy food, as we don't have much in right now.

Do you all have the same schedules as your partners? Do you have to hang around waiting for them before you can eat dinner?

OP posts:
JessiCat26 · 18/12/2014 17:43

Thanks kaykay. Could you use a low cal spray for your eggs and flip them to cook the yolk. I love a runny poached egg.

No partner here so get to please myself.
Could you cover his dinner and heat it up later on if you don't want to eat late.
Although I'm sure it's nice eating together

kaykayblue · 18/12/2014 19:06

Yea, that's the thing. We only get a few hours together, so eating separately seems kind of...sad? We did it the other day as I was fed up of waiting though Grin

I might pick up a low cal spray next time I'm home. I've never seen them here....

JessiCat26 · 19/12/2014 00:13

If ur only using a small amount of oil should still be quite healthy.

kaykayblue · 19/12/2014 09:23

I wish our scales were working. I might even go out to buy a new battery today.

It's frustrating having no idea if I've gone up or down since the weekend.

Did you do the challenge Jessicat? I managed to get them done whilst cooking dinner, lol.

Challenges are always a bit tough on fridays I think.

How about, fit in 20 minutes of exercise. Whether it's walking, the gym, or a workout video.

If you already went to the gym this morning, or walked to work, then you have already completed the challenge, and I greatly envy your motivation in the winter mornings.

A tough one today!

PS, Since I stopped drinking I've noticed I've not been sleeping as well. I assumed it would have the opposite effect???

OP posts:
JessiCat26 · 19/12/2014 10:04

I did manage it. I thought oh this is relatively easy whilst I was doing them until later when I got up of the sofa and my thighs started screaming at me lol.

I'm just off to do my cardio dvd before I have some brekkie. Im quite enjoying exercising at the mo maybe it's the endorphins kicking in.

That's strange about the sleeping. Maybe try some yoga streches or meditation before bed to help relax.

Redtractorwontsleep · 19/12/2014 11:31

Hi, had a manic day yesterday so didn't post! Will do yesterday's challenge today. Going well so far, I think that being too busy to think about having food helps!
Going to a wedding party tomorrow night so any tips on what drinks to have would be appreciated!

kaykayred · 19/12/2014 13:51

red - hmm tricky on the drinks. You could always decide to have X number of glasses of wine (say 2 small glasses) and then drink diet coke or fizzy water inbetween. That way you aren't denying yourself completely, but you are still cutting a lot of calories.

Plus it's just part of the atmosphere to have a drink at a wedding (unless you're pregnant or whatnot)!!

My shoulders are killing today after all the laundry carrying yesterday :-(

Not having the best day to be honest. Have loads to do but absolutely zero motivation. I need to finish buying presents!!!!

At least that will get me walking for a while, then hopefully will be motivated to do a proper sports session when I get back.

Crappy day.

JessiCat26 · 19/12/2014 13:54

Red You could drink what you usually would but give yourself a limit, then space it out with a soda water and blackcurrant or something similar inbetween.

Redtractorwontsleep · 19/12/2014 21:47

I was pregnant last year so deffo not giving the alcohol a miss this year!! I'm a wine or vodka drinker so reckon that vodka and lime and soda will be the best bet + soda in between. I'm such a lightweight after the baby anyway so don't think I can handle a lot and can't do with the hangover these days!!

Sorry your having a crappy day kaykay, hope tomorrow is better for you!

kaykayred · 19/12/2014 21:53

Thanks red - the day just seems to have been a bit of a wash out really.

I did a bit more walking than usual, but think I ate too much around it. Not junk per se, just too much "nibbling"!

Oh well. Tomorrow is another day and all :-( Still feeling sorry for myself though!!!

JessiCat26 · 19/12/2014 21:59

Hope your day got better kaykay Smile

AislingLouise · 20/12/2014 05:26

Just read all the posts & I'd love to join in!
My bmi is 26.1 and would need to lose a stone to get it back to 24. I know bmi is not everything, but it's a fairly accurate indicator of where i am:-)
I'd be delighted to lose 10lbs and keep it off for more than a month.
After watching Fat Sick and Nearly Dead a few months ago I did a 3 day juicing 'reboot' and juiced & ate really well for abt 2 weeks after. Then old habits set in and I 'm back to where I was. That was the only time I was free of the sugar cravings. The real irony is I'm in the middle of a nutrition course, so I know what to eat. My main food is all home cooked & healthy, it's 'just' the snacking and regular treats that are the problem. I really look forward to wine at the weekends, and am going to get back to cutting out mid-week vino. Looking forward to the next challenge!

JessiCat26 · 20/12/2014 16:22

Hi Aislinglouise

So far I'm having a terrible day.
Hour and a half late for work.
Barny with the boss.
And I've only eaten a bowl of branflakes so far today.

Off out later for a Birthday party so will have to make some gd choices at the buffet. Won't be fitting any exercise in today tho. I'll have to try get a bit extra in tomorrow.

How's everyone else?
Red how was the party?
kaykay hope your day was better today.

kaykayred · 22/12/2014 10:41

Hey all, sorry to have gone AWOL - I've been traveling around for Christmas! I did a weigh in Sunday and today, and I have lost one kilogram (two lbs) since last Saturday. Quite shocked to be honest!!!!

I'm going to have to be very careful though as there is so much food and wine here. I've been walking but its not that much, especially if I'm hoping to lose another 1-2 pounds before new years eve.

JESSI- sorry to hear about your bad day. Sometimes everything just seems to go wrong!!! I hope everything has improved and that you had a great time at the birthday party!!

Welcome to Louise! Hopefully this thread will be as helpful to you as its been to me so far! I'd recommend going for slow and steady, and trying to get rid of one bad habit every week or so.

JessiCat26 · 22/12/2014 19:37

Well done on your loss Kaykay

I've been a lax over the weekend. Hoping for 2lbs more off when I weigh in on Wednesday.

I deffo can't wait to stuff my face on Xmas day.
I think after that I'm gonna.have cheat meal day to stop me going insane with cravings lol.

JessiCat26 · 01/01/2015 19:30

Hi ladies
Hope everyone had a good Christmas.
I really overindulged, but will be back on the wagon come Monday lol.
How's everyone else getting on?
