Food tastes different... is this a 'thing'

I was 4 stone overweight and in about mid July I just got in the 'zone' for losing weight. I changed what I was eating by choosing foods to fuel my day adequately rather than low fat crap. I started exercising too. I've stuck to it and lost 21lbs. It's coming off slowly but surely but I'm happy with that because it doesn't pile back on if I eat out or can't exercise for one reason or another.

Anyway, I'm ill just now so I went to the shop for my go to comfort foods Heinz tomato soup and Kraft Cheesy Pasta and they just tasted weird to me. All synthetic and clawing. I've noticed chocolate isn't as enjoyable as it used to be. Is this my taste buds changing? Is this a thing that happens?

Yep! Same thing here. I have been steadily losing weight on a balanced, low calorie diet since June.
Recently, I had a biscuit at work, which previously, was a favourite. It tasted claggy and as if the fats in it were old. Same with chocolate. Had a ripple. Meh!
Guess we have to find some better quality treats.

It's a good thing really. Just takes a bit of getting used to. I used to ache for chocolate but now the thought of a chopped crunchy apple is just so much better.

I have this too. As I've lost weight I've ended up eating much less processed food altogether, and now anything with a lot of sugar in it is a real shock to the tastebuds, and other (non-sugary) things taste kind of synthetic, and sometimes oily. Really puts me off, which is probably a good thing!
