Has anyone given up wine and lost weight?

I've had a pretty traumatic few months and started relying a little too heavily on wine at the end of the day (most days)
I've also put A lot of weight on

For obvious reasons I need to stop this bad habit I've gotten into, could some of the weight be related to the wine consumption too?

Anyone given it up and noticed weight loss ? X

I have, although how much is down to the wine and how much is down to having more control over food and a willingness to exercise I couldn't say for sure!

It's early days for me, I had my last alcoholic drink on Sept 1st but have lost 3lbs (not that overweight to begin with, in fairness, but I am short so it shows badly), however the biggest gains for me have been in the improvement in my mood, skin, mental clarity. I can manage the DC without losing my temper most days now. I am a kinder person as I did tend to drink too much and say things that were inappropriate and hurtful. The reduction in calories has been an added bonus!

I have been sticking closely to 1400 calories daily and in the last week have started the Shred, from being pretty sedentary. I feel so much better in myself! If I was drinking I wouldn't have that determination. One drink and I just start to slide.

Every glass of wine is calories. I think I read somewhere that a bottle of wine is about 500 cals but it could be more. Find the issue that is concerning you most about your drinking and focus on that, then take all the other benefits too.

I read The Sober Revolution which also helped. I don't think I was as far lost as some of the stories in there but it did make me realise that if I felt there was a problem, then there was a problem.

Give it a go, honestly there will only be good things from it. Health, wealth, weight loss, all have improved. When you've had a bad day ask yourself, will a glass of wine make this any better? And find something else to fill the time with as evenings suddenly appear from the fog!

Good luck x

My father has - he used to drink at least a bottle of wine a night - if not more but was recently forced to dramatically cut back and the amount of weight he has lost is amazing so I can very much vouch for this one

I gave up booze for a month and didn't lose any weight.

I stopped drinking last year and am still pretty much tea total. No weight loss. Perhaps I eat more dinner? I don't snack in the evening.
